Mail
I will be going on my first trip for a long period of time. How are you that don’t “full time” and go on extended trip get your mail? I talked to the USPS and they made it sound like it’s a real problem or at least they wanted to make it one.

Gregg, Mail forwarding sucks, every time I have done it it takes weeks to get my mail. Am in Riverbend and mail was to be forwarded every week, three weeks no mail, called no record of forwarding info had to resend papers where I filled out the info and paid! They had fired the post master well you know no one in post office gets fired just move them where they can do no harm!

This company scans your snail mail and then you decide if you want to have it sent or just trashed.

We travel 3-4 months a year. I use the USPS normally. I issue a temp change address form and change may address to my Escapee mail address. While traveling, I contact Escapees to send my mail wherever I am.
Since you live in Oregon, you might consider using an electronic mail service. Their is one in your area that I have used, but the lag time of transporting mail from Houston to the northwest was too long for us. I can not remember the name of the service, but they will scan you mail envelopes and post the scan results in you account accessible via internet. If you want, they will scan the letter inside and post this as well. I hope someone else chimes in here with the name of the service. I was a neat service, it just did not work for us in Houston.
Can anyone remember the name of the company that offers this service?

Can’t help with the Houston area , we use our (my) sister-in-law, who lives about a quarter of a mile away. She stops to feed the cats and walk through the house every couple of days, and pick up the mail. Now, I just put in a forward address card and she still feeds the cats, how good is that? She just opens mail and Emails me info as it comes in. Kinda almost like being home.
