Magnum Changeover and Watchdog Autostart
Hi all,
For the past year I have been working on the upgrades inside and outside the bus. With all new electronics and appliances it seemed to me that the quality of the power with the older Heart Freedon 2500’s ( but still working fine) was about due for upgrade as well.
Decided to go with 2 (two) MS2812 Magnum Pure Sine Inverters/Chargers with ARC-50 remotes.
I got the ME-AGS-N Magnum Network version of the Generator autostart module and will locate it near the Watchdog modeule and generator start stop control panel.
This is where I would appreciate some assistance……. if anybody would be willing to share how to wire the Magnum autostart module into the Watchdog control panel so that it maintains the Watchdog functional for now and allows me to use the inside dash and bedroom buttons to start the generator rather than the remote buttons.
The thought is that if the Magnum AGS can be wired in parallel, then I could make use of the Start/Stop buttons AND be able to setup the autostart for with the Magnum system for a higher voltage + temperature trigger. Currently the Watchdog system only starts it when the voltage drops to 11.5V and has no temp trigger to run the AC’s if it gets too hot inside. If the Watchdog module is disconnected from the system, the inside buttons are dead…..so looks like a parallel connection is what needs to be done…

Have you tried calling Troy at Liberty? I have never been turned down for info.

Talked to Troy as suggested and he was no help. Said that he does not know how to do it. Also said that they change over the old Heart ot Magnum but leave the Watchdog alone. Apparently Watchdog modules are still being repaired as needed on all vintage coaches. No adjustment to the voltage to trigger autostart and no temperature trigger.
I refuse to believe that there is no way to wire in parallel a Magnum AGS and be able to use buttons inside, set voltage trigger and temperature trigger. Jeff is smart and good with this type of stuff…. He has done it I believe….Jeff can you help ? I’ll pay for the diagram.

Sold the Prevost in June to a Country Music enthusiast after I remodeled it completely. Did not get to do the Magnum Autostart on that coach. I am now in the process of remodeling a 2000 Newell 45 footer with 2 slides.

The blue LEd are not actually blue….I had a company I do business with create a custom Aqua color by combining 2 green and one blue chip in the SMD strip.
The wood is original as Randy ordered the coach in 99. A lot of the leather wall coverings, flooring etc. have been changed though…new dash recover as well.
Not sure I get the Menards add thing….

For several months the only way I had to run My Gen was to By-Pass the watchdog. I was concerned about not having the Watchdog to protect the Gen. I talked to Troy and asked Him about it. He told Me that it would not hurt it . That the Gen had a low oil cutoff and a High Temp cutoff. Missing My start switches and tired of running in and out to the Electrical bay. I dug into the Watchdog a little more and was looking for a replacement. Which if I remember correctly , There are none available, No longer Produced ??? I talked to Bill Doughtery in Chitown and He asked Me if I had ever checked the Fuse in the Watchdog circuit board. And told Me that they had a Spare fuse in them from the factory. He was kind enough to send Me an Email with a Diagram showing the locations on the board of the Fuse and the Spare resistor. Changed that , and All switches work fine. Life is good ! Note to Self : ( Self , Get another Spare Fuse )

Rocky, go one further. Make the diagram or information into an article, convert it to a PDF file and put it in the articles section. If you do that we will not increase your dues when we double everyone else’s this year.

Magav 65 Started this thread. Over the possibility of wiring a Magnum AGS into a Watchdog to retain the use of the three inside Start / Stop switches. Marius , Did You get them wired together yet ? I am curious , as I have the same setup ?

You can only start the gen from the inverter panel with the AGS from magnum or at the gen itself
