  • Magnum 2812’s and Lifelines !

Posted by Archived on February 2, 2017 at 6:55 pm

Well Folks , I am So Impressed with the New Magnum 2812 inverters ! I unplugged the Shore power Yesterday morning at 10:15 AM. 2/1/17 . I wanted to do a Test for My own benefit. Just to know how long I could Run on Batteries and How long My Generator would Run after doing the Autostart Via the Old Liberty Watchdog. I run them down before with the Autostart enabled. And it did Start ! YAY , But it ran for over 4 Hrs and I was convinced that there was a FU PA with the Autostart / Magnum Combination when it come to shutting it back down. So I turned off the Gen and Plugged back into Shore, Since My Batteries had been back up to Full charge after the Gen had run for 3-4 Hrs. Then I find out that The Liberty Watchdog does not Monitor the Full Charge voltage to do the Shutoff. It is a Timed Event , Pre-Set By Liberty back in the Day. So I do a Second Run to see if the Gen Will Cut Off ? The Autostart did not Start the Generator until 3:55 AM on 2/2/17 ! Although I did start the Coach and Run It for about 45 Mins Playing with the OTR Air. So , The Coach Alternator did put a little charge back into the Batteries. But Other than that , Fridge , TV , Microwave For a Frozen Dinner, Water pump several times and Several Light and a Small Fan running on an Outlet Continously. And TV In Bedroom all night. ( Which is Not LED ) So the Coach run for Approx 17 Hr 40 Min ? After the Watchdog start , The Gen Run until 10:25 Am on 2/2/17 About 6.5 Hrs.

I was just very happy that the Watchdog Started and Stopped the Gen. And The Lasting Power of the Lifelines ! WOW , Maybe Deduct an Hour or Two for the Voltage the Alternator put back in the batteries for the short time I ran the engine.

The LED Interior Lights , LED TV Up Front , And The Energy Star Fridge must really Make a Difference ? I realize with Age these Cycles will get shorter and Shorter. But WOW ! AMAZED !

My Coach is Not wired to run the Cruise Airs though. Limited to OTR or Gen Start for A/C , Which Excuse the Expression SUCKS !

All of that is good, but what you need to determine is what voltage are your batteries when the Watch Dog kicks in?

Keep my number handy for Lifelines.:)

Looking at your last postings…feel sorry about your loss(mother)…but are you still in this world?

    Or Gonecrazy?

With all due respect, lately, whatever you are posting, is just “crazy” confusing all of us….you need help or not?

What do You mean Dorel ? Would You like to be More Specific ??? What I posted about the Run Time and all Here is Correct . However , As Tom Said I think the old Watchdog is drawing them down way too far to be healthy for the Batteries ? And will use up their lifecycle way before Their time. Does any one know what voltage a Watchdog will start the Gen ? Probably nothing that I will use very often. But Good to know that it works !

    Gone,

There are two schools of thought regarding auto-start.

If the auto-start can be adjusted to start when the batteries are around 50% rate of discharge battery life is not likely to be compromised. However some auto-starts like our Liberty Watchdog do a deep discharge before starting the generator. The deeper the battery discharge before recharging the fewer charge cycles and the shorter the battery life. The actual number of cycles depends on the voltage at recharge but it can reduce the number of cycles significantly.

Some of us manually control recharging because by keeping the batteries above a certain value such as 50% we are assured of a longer, trouble free battery life.

When Tom questioned the voltage when the generator started his concern was to alert you to avoid the deep discharges or accept a shorter battery lifespan. The good news is yours sounds like everything is working great and that is good.

    Dorel ,

Forgive Me , I did not answer all Your Questions. If You read My Post about My Mother , I said I was not posting for Sympathy. Simply Sharing and Stating that You should Enjoy Your Parents if You still have them. Everyone knows where Sympathy belongs in the Dictionary.

Yes , I am still in This World.

My Wife said I had “Gone Crazy” When I purchased the Prevost. Hence the Name. Got A Funny Story about that Too !

And No , I do not need any Help with My loss , I am doing Fine. Although , I do not think that You ask Out of Concern or willingness to Help ? It comes across as Condacending.

Confusing all of You ? Humm , Did You draw the Short straw of the Group ? And have to make the Post ?

What I do need Help with is Learning everything about My Prevost . That’s why I am Here. Sure I might ask some Dumb Questions in My Quest for this knowledge. Did You know everything about Yours before Your Purchase ? I do Try to search a Lot of stuff before I ask questions. And have done Hours and Hours of reading on a Lot of them. I am Not a Creeper Scared to Post ! Think Of Me as On Prevost Knowledge Training Wheels ? I Do have Hidden Inuendos of Humor imbedded in My posts from time to Time ! But I would think they are usually Obvious ? Like Big Jon has said in a Few posts. 50% of the Posts are BS , Its up to You to decide. Lighten Up , Be HAPPY , Life is Short ! Sorry that some of My Posts Have confused You and Your Group , But from now on You do have the option Not To Click on Any of My Posts ?

    Gone,

There are several things you should keep in mind. The first is that not a single person who bought their first Prevost had a clue. Every single one of us was overwhelmed. There is so much to learn and understand all at once it is like drinking from a fire hose. The coach is big, complex, and has so many systems it takes a lot of time just to develop a basic understanding. By asking questions as you come across things you don’t know you are going to learn. That leads into the second thing you have to understand.

A lot of members are going to be able to provide accurate answers to your questions, but some are not going to be accurate. When you get bad or incorrect advice it is not because the people providing the answer are dumb or mean, but their answer is in the context of their coach. Not all Liberty owners, including those with the same model year are going to have a coach exactly like yours so while responses may be correct with respect to their coach, it may not be correct relative to yours. You have to learn how to sort through responses to learn which are accurate.

A third thing we all need to understand is this media called the internet is a poor way to communicate. This is especially true when we need to use eyes and ears to interpret something when words may be inadequate. Technical questions are difficult because we often use most of our senses when we are at a coach trying to diagnose an issue. Trying to describe a noise, or where it is coming from, or seeing something, or even smelling something are all things we lack with the internet. So it is often we talk back and forth trying to zero in on what we are trying to say in both directions. To add to the confusion, joking on a post is often not recognized as a joke and can sometimes be seen as mean or cruel. What helps immensely is getting to know one another by meeting face to face at rallies or any other place we can.

Finally every newbie has to understand how important and valuable their questions are. It is very easy for a new owner to not only feel intimidated by the coach, but by the responses on this forum. If that is the case, refer back to the first paragraph and realize no matter how condescending some answers may seem the writer was once in the exact same place you are. What makes your questions so valuable is there are a lot of people who visit this site and never ask a question or respond to one. You are asking questions many others would like to ask, but for whatever reason they choose not to ask. The good news is as you develop an understanding and knowledge, you are going to be someone who begins helping other new owners.

    Hang in there.

Rocky, We have all been crazy at one point…otherwise none of us would own these wonderful machines. Staying crazy helps a ton. As Waylon said….”I’ve always been crazy, but it’s kept me from going insane”. Geo.

    Hey Geo,

Cant say that I have ever heard of Lucinda , But That will Prompt Me to look Her up and give a Listen. I Am Primarily a Classic Rock Kinda Guy. I make several comments about the Banjo. But I can only listen to it for a Short time. But While Sitting alone And Picking My Own Banjo, I can relax and Enoy it for a few hours at a time.I also Collect Rare Vintage Instruments. I do Listen to Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel occasionally. But that Genre is kinda like Some Visiting Relatives. I can only take it in Small Doses. The line about “Don’t let anyone steel Your Joy” Is something My Former Banjo Teacher used to say. That stuck with Me.

    Jon,

In reference to Your earlier Reply ,

Any Jokes that I ever Make or try to make are Aimed at My Own Ineptitude. Sometime My Analogies Might be a little off in some of Your Minds. I believe in Manners and treating People with Respect. Here is a Quote that I like to try and Live By.

” One of the Truest signs of Maturity is the Ability to Dis-Agree with Someone while Still Remaining Respectful ”

However , This does not Include Brothers , I have Three , And It is My Job to Give Em Crap and keep them on their Toes ! Similar to the Bantter I see You giving Tom Constantly ! Ya’all can get pretty Rough on each other sometimes !

I have nothing But well wishes and Safe Travels for All The Forum Community ! And would go out of My way to help a Brother in need.

    Life Is Good !
