    Just a quick question, Chuck.

I have a Coast Guard Capt License on western rivers 60 ton. Used to deliver sold or to be sold boats. At this time my license is parked.

Just wondering how your license is titled using western rivers, great lakes. Do they write a clockwise endorsement or must you stay inside a mile limit once in salt water.

In years past, we worked with Wille Nelson and he ran his busses on 100% BioDiesel (‘cus his biodiesel company could truck the fuel to where ever he was). All hoses had to be changed and for the first few fuel ups all the filters had to be changed several times as the biodiesel “CLEANED” those tanks. After that you could stand beside his coach with the generator running and it smelled like french fries cooling.

    Hi Al:

I have a 1600 ton unlimited, so its good for all oceans, inland rivers and lakes. Have done the Saint Lawrence rive over a dozen time going down, but never up. Always wanted to do the Mississippi river into or out of the great lakes but never had the opportunity.

Interesting thing I learned Manitowoc, Wisconsin. They used to build submarines there in WWII, sea trail them in lake Michigan then barge them down to New Orleans where the crew would board and go to sea/war. Building the subs that far inland provided a high level of security. Boy have things changed with satellites that see everything.

    That is an impressive license.

Have done all the 26 lock and dams about half dozen times and 2 night crossings on the Gulf of Mexico to Tampa. I loved the peace and quiet at night. Just good times from the past.

The Locks are the most frustrating boating experience. Your with boats, barges, tugs, and stupid inexperienced boaters. I’ve had my moments.

With 1600 tons all oceans unlimited puts him in a very special class.

Bernie, never saw that one coming.

    He is Capt Chuck.

Capt. is only for the License.

Chuck minus the Capt works best for me.

Agree locks can be a challenge.
