the low water light on my 1986 Prevost Liberty does not appear to be working. I have replaced the bulb and checked that the wires are connected at the sensor. How can I trouble shoot the problem? Thanks

The circuit for this year vehicle is relatively simple. Off of a bus bar in the rear junction box we supply 24 volts through a 3 amp. fuse to the + terminal of the coolant sensor. The signal terminal of the sensor then goes to stud 55 in the rear junction box that connects to stud #62 inthe front junction box next to the driver and then to a buzzer and the “low coolant” light in the dash. The sensor is an open circuit as long as it is submerged in coolant in the tank. If it comes out of the coolant long enough the contacts inside the sensor close and send 24 volts through the circuit described above. This is simply an alarm and has no control over the running of the engine.

I can email or FAX you a copy of the diagram D060441 if that would help.

If I understand this I should be able to short across the coolant sensor and force the low coolant dash light to go on. When I do this nothing happens. Any ideas? Thanks
