Could it be a normally open sensor i.e. it takes a short or low impedance to trip it?

I read some info in the book page 61 4.3 and it said if it is low below sensor the check engine light will flash and it will have a diagnostic code 01 will appear.
Where do engine codes appear ? how do you get pictures to come out straight and not sideways ?

On your vintage coach there is a procedure to flash the codes. I don’t know what it is without looking at your service manual.
A low coolant level sensor is very important because if you have a sudden loss of coolant it will warn you with a stop engine light. I do not know why yours is not indicating an issue when disconnected.

I did not have engine running, I bet it has to be running, I was just looking for a low coolant light.

So I decided I wanted to find out what would happen If I lost antifreeze or low below sensor in tank, So I pulled off plug connector and tested it with a ohm meter and readsensor with fluid so then I sucked out antifreeze out of tank pulled out sensor and it looked clean and nice so I read ohms dry and not a lot of difference so put sensor back in and before I re filled I started engine with tank low, And when it started both check engine lights amber & Red came on so I turned off engine refilled tank and started engine and both light turned off so I know now if loss or low antifreeze level it will tell me.

On my old coach not only will lights go off but it will kill engine in a few seconds. Found that out right after I bought it 8 years ago on the drive home.

Depending on the how your converter modified the Prevost engine cooling system during the conversion, there are lots of places to have coolant slowly leak out. Trust me … been there. I always carry a gallon or two of coolant.
Not that what the converters did was wrong, its just as the coaches age and go through hundreds of heat cycles, tiny leaks that might now should up on your driveway or shop floor could occur.

Does anyone ever add a clear plastic over flow tank after steel tank
-
Never thought about it. For what purpose? The volume of the tank above the sight glass (at least on our 1998 chassis) and the low coolant detector seems to be quite substantial.
-
Well from what I was told If you fill it up to neck you will loose some antifreeze from expansion, so if you are above sight your ok. I drained out about 3/4 of a gallon for test to check light and that was below sensor so that means if you are low 1/2 gallon light will come on. If you installed a plastic over flow bottle it would keep steel tank full, it would expand into plastic tank and then cool down it would draw fluid back to steel tank, so you would have a wider range. And you could see it better in clear plastic tank

If Prevost engineers felt additional volume of coolant was a valuable feature I am sure they would have provided it. Remember these coaches are designed to be driven hard and long by hired drivers who likely are not going to be as careful doing pre-trip inspections so we private owners are far less likely to have a need for the additional volume. The sensor is not a reminder to add coolant although from conversations seen on some bus forums that is how some use them. The sensor is to protect the engine in the case of a large coolant leak that would pose a risk to the engine such as a failed hose.
