Love Bug Hell
Posted by Archived on May 3, 2020 at 2:22 pmWelcome to Florida.
I left Fast Roger at Carroll’s and he too was south bound, his Legendary probably looks as bad.
Took 2 hrs to get them off, Peroxide and Water 25/75 in a spray bottle really helps including beer.

Yuck! Thanks for whackin’ so many of ’em. Good for the rest of us.
Does anyone know if hood wind mounted deflectors do anything?

Nice mess Tom. We left TGO last Monday headed North, driving the pickup. Left at 3:00 am, sunrise in Georgia, no lovebugs!
How many beers were needed in the mixture?

Hey Tom, Everybody knows that May and September is love-bug season in Florida! You realize of course that Love-bugs don’t stick to a Liberty… I’m sure I’ve heard Jon say that!

Try cans of coke shake and spray. That is what we did when it,first started. Drive. At night and you will not have that problem. I think,it started 30- 40 years ago around FORT PIERCE. WHEN ESCAPED FROM A UF EXPERAMENTAL STATION.

Put HOT water in a bucket, dip your cleaning pole in the hot water. Soak the glass from one side to the other. Now go back and do it again. Most of the bugs will come off pretty easily. (First time across with the hot water softens them, second time across takes them off).
HOT water is the key. Obviously don’t do this if the windshield is really cold.
With the hot water you don’t remove any glass treatments that may be on the glass I.E. Rain-X etcChuck

Take the dues money I have not received, hire someone to clean them off while you sit in a lawn chair and drink beer purchased with dues money.
My guess is the bug cleaner should remove his shoes when he walks on the hood to get the bugs that are up high over the windshield or just lay an old rug on the hood. Or not. After all it is getting time to trade again.
Or just ask Nanc to do the bug removal. I’m sure she would be OK with that.

If I were Tom I would not bother cleaning them just trade the coach on one of these and he can go back to claiming he has a bus with the benefits of a truck.

Buddy: Kingsley? I almost bought one. Fortunately it sold before we could get to upstate New York to look at it. I still think they are really cool.

Talk about a Looong wheelbase with a sleeper. Be sure and lube the 16 carrier bearings for the drive shaft.

Drove from Clearwater to Stuart yesterday lovebugs were thicker than when i left Carrrolls Sausage I had to stop and half way clean them before reaching I 95.
the locals say they are not bad east of the interstate?
The new dawn detergent doesnt cut the love bugs either

Years ago I heard Tim Foley of Miami Dolphins fame, saying that he used an Amway bug spray on his Prevost. He said you spray it on and after 30 seconds you can wipe them right off. I found out later that he was a big deal in Amway. I’ve not used it but I’ve had others say Its unbelievable how well it works. If you know someone in Amway ask them about it?
My wife just told me that her brother had a motorhome and he would spray something from Amway on the windshield that prevented bugs from sticking. Or at least made it a lot easier to get off.

It has been a couple of years since we drove through Florida during ‘Love bug’ season.
What has worked well with those and other bugs is Spray Way foam glass/window cleaner. You spray it on, let it sit, maybe give it a second spray to loosen the bugs and they wipe right off.
Normally, I will clean the Coach front every evening when traveling. It makes it so much easier than letting it get too messy.
Safe travels!
