looking for good spot near mesa verde CO
any one have any recomendations? will be passing through that area. wanted to stay at wolf creek run in pagosa springs but they are full. we wanted to also check out mesa verde so any input would be welcome.

We stayed at a place pretty much right across the street from the park called Mesa Verde RV resort. It wasn’t anything fancy but it was one of the cleanest we have been in. Just be sure to tell them your size… some of the sites are smaller but they had saved us a larger site.
We loved Mesa Verde… we did the Balcony House and Cliff Palace tours and if your up for ladders and tight tunnels it was well worth it.

Be aware that there is camping inside Mesa Verde NP. I would recommend it if you are going to stay more than a couple days. We haven’t been there in 20 years, but the campground has been upgraded since then. Yes, it is a climb, and the tight switchbacks require that no one else be in the curves at the time you enter them. Was not a problem at all. Check (call) with the park to see if they have any restrictions, though. If not, it is definitely worth it, in our view: moon and starlight on clear nights is fantastic, and the mule deer will approach you and lick or eat out of your hands. We were in a 35′ FC Bluebird at the time, and as underpowered as it was, no problems.

thanks, will check out mesa verde RV park and see if they have openings. From their website looks like a good place and good location.

Sites 8-13 are the premium pull thrus. We stayed there several years back with two other H3-45s. (Mesa Verde RV Resort)

Spend a night or two in Morefield Campground, just 4 miles inside Mesa Verde. With 267 sites, there’s always plenty of space! The campground rarely fills. Each site has a table, bench, and grill.
