LIBERTY WATCHDOG DEAD
Can’t start gen from inside. Bypassed watchdog and starting and stopping manually.
I know watchdog tends to fail eventually but there is a red power indicator led on the watchdog which was not illuminated before bypass. Is it possible watchdog is not getting power? Fuse, where? I assume I can check power by probing a wire on the wire ribbon going into watchdog. Anyone know which wire?

On my 2007 Liberty gen watchdog, that red light indicates the reset button on the rear of watchdog needs to be momentarily depressed and released to reset the system.
Please let us know the outcome.

OK, it’s fixed. Bill Doherty at Liberty Chicago sent me info suggesting a 3/8 amp (yes, you read correctly, I didn’t know they came that small) fuse located on the circuit board of the watchdog module may be blown. It’s not soldered in; just pushes in and out. Removed watchdog module, removed screws retaining cover, found fuse good.
Bill then suggested I have Florida install a system to replace the watchdog @ $3500 plus labor. Spoke to Vince in Florida and he said there are more fuses in the steel box below the watchdog module but if the gen starts while I’m in that box it’s subject to high voltage so be careful. (I’m not sure about that, I think high voltage is in the second metal box below module) In any event, I turned off gen breaker and opened box to find 2 of the subject fuses; one blown. Replaced and EUREKA!
I had changed the gen battery before this trip. I’ve changed the gen battery about 4 times in my ownership term and never had a problem before but Vince also suggested disconnecting watchdog during battery change.
