Liberty W/OTR Question?????
Just curious.
Does anybody with a Liberty w/OTR Air know what your coach’s rear axle ratio is???

I think it depends on the year and transmission.
The five speed used with the 8V92 may have a 3.73, but the six speed World transmission has two overdrive gears so the taller ratio is likely.
The above is strictly a guess and may be little more than fertilizer.

Jon, our 1992 8V’s Beaver Bus had a 3.56, ordered special. Standard Most other Beaver XL 40’s had 3.31.

There are at least 2 tags on the differential housing. The aft tag indicates gear ratio on our bus.

I am curious why anyone would care. Either the bus performs the way you like when you drive it or it does not. Would anyone change the factory gear ratio and justify the cost/benefit? I know nothing about ratios so I am seriously curious.

Given that Liberty is the best, I was just curious as to how Liberty would order a Prevost chassis with OTR air for conversion.

Looking in the parts manual, from 1990 to 2000, 40 and 45 XL motorhome shells came with either 4.56 or 4.88 ratio. There are 3 other ratios listed for other shells: 3.07, 3.21, and 4.30.
Any converter could order a shell w/OTR full bus ac.

Rockwell offers many many gear ratios that anybody can buy and install. Based on the parts manual, Prevost doesn’t.

Mike, when you are driving down the hwy at 65 mph, what is your rpm? Does your bus have a 5 or 6 speed Allison? Does it have a 2 speed differential?
Our bus runs down the hwy at 65 mph at 1550 rpm, if my memory serves me. Our Allison B500 6 speed is overdriven in 5th and 6th. It doesn’t have 2 speed differential.
If we had 3.58 gears in ours it lug the engine down, out of its sweet spot.
But, since your bus has a 8V92 etc, the sweet spot is different.

1400 RPM seems to ring a bell at 65? but I don’t remember, I will check for sure next time out. I have the 5 speed Close Ratio HT 755 CR Allison tranny.
