Liberty is better

Well, I’ll go ahead and spill the beans.
We have ordered (2015) Liberty Coach Elegant Lady coach #787 to be completed around Oct./Nov.
The funds will transfer tomorrow or Tuesday.
We’re SO excited.
We ordered a four slide, bath and a half, L-lounge dinette and the See-Vision system to look around the coach at night. The living room will have two built-in recliners across from a sofa.
The quality of the Liberty really jumped out to me and speaking with the owner while looking at the coach was pure icing on the cake.
Another point I liked about the Liberty Coach is the ‘one’ holding tank (189 gal) and the use of Lithium batteries. Frank said that they can run 2,000 cycles and the 2011 coaches that they have checked only have 30 or so cycles on them. So, these batteries can last 10+ years. We are getting 3 batteries (four-slide coach requires). Those batteries are $7K each. The coach also has 4 inverters.
I knew I had to go with Liberty because you (Tom) and Jon own one so you will be my go-to guys! (just kidd’n). I know that they have a wonderful staff to guide us.

I would love to understand the rationale for 4 inverters, especially with such a small DC battery bank.

The spec lists the inverters as follows:
4- 3500 watt -24 volt OutBack Sine Wave Inverters
I think they have four so I can run all the airs if I want without using the genny.

Woo Hoo, congratulations, you made a great choice. This will be fun to hear how the process works of having a new Liberty built from scratch. You did your homework well and we’re glad you chose PC as the source of information. It was a rocky road at times, but all worked out for you and glad the PC crowd was able to be part of the process.
Thanks for sharing your adventure, we hope to hear lots of progress reports as the coach building moves forward.

Congratulations. I presume you read the fine print on your membership contract that states those who buy a new coach have to send expensive gifts to Tom and I.
I like expensive tools, but money is also OK.

Congratulations!! You sure did a lot of research and I think you ended up with the coach you really wanted and what most of us thought all along that you would pick. I hope you have many many miles and smiles along the way.
Hope to see you on the road one day and you can give us a tour of what a brand new high tech Liberty looks like.

Gil,The reason for 4 Outback 3500 watt inverters is to power the 4 roof airs while traveling down the road,I think there are 3 alternators around 200 amps at 24 volts to power the inverters,I was told that the alternators with fully charged batteries would run all 4 AC units for about 10 hours.CONGRATS Mr Mark on your selection of the best coach manufacturer!!!

It has been a fun experience reading and learning about these coaches. I originally started reading and studying this last summer when we decided to ‘move up’ the ladder. Then, someone suggested this website and then a flood of information was at my fingertips.
I certainly appreciate everyone’s opinion along the way.
Jon, I did see that very, very, small print about expensive gifts for you and Tom. I’ll get working on it!

I also doubt that the batteries are “that small”. That type of battery does not need to be recharged at 50% SOC so they actually have nearly twice the capacity and something like 1/2 the weight of a similar battery. That should do a very good job. That was not a typo when he said these batteries cost $7,000 a piece. I just can figure out how you wire 3 – 12V batteries for 24V.

Jack, I would be surprised if 4 airs would operate for more than a couple hours, let alone 10. I think Liberty uses the Mastervolt batteries rated at 5KW (best case). With 3 batteries, there’s 15KW of available power.
I won’t second guess Liberty, but would think 2 inverters would be more than adequate for typical uses and night time operation of one or two airs. During the day, most would use their generator.

They’re probably 24v batteries. Jon and I have done some research on a battery company and I visited the facility. It is amazing technology. The battery the same size as an 8D I easily lifted and it’s performance was equal to multiple 8d’s. It’s the wave of the future, but will take some time to be a direct drop in replacement because of auto starts and various types of inverter/chargers.

I would think the purpose of the 4 inverters is to use the air when the engine is running going down the road.
Honestly, I think using two units would be plenty for us at any given time while driving as we have the dash air too.

Congratulations Mr. Mark on your purchase of your liberty coach I hope you don’t mind me asking but what is a four slighted liberty cost ?if you don’t want to say that I understand. The coach they had at Motorcoach country club was a beautiful coach I’m sure yours will be as nice ! Can’t wait to see pictures of your new coach as it is being built
