Liberty quit making the Lady Classic in 2003 model year as these were 12 volt coaches compared to 24 volts for all Elegant Lady models…. Elegant had more trim and was more luxurious than the base Liberety Lady model…. Only believe the Lady came in (1) one or no slides. All double slides were Elegant Lady models. Jon may be able to confirm??

There are many differences, but the major ones that I am aware of is the classic is a 12 volt system where the elegant is a 24 volt house system, and most classic have 3 cruise airs instead of 4.The interiors are a little different, and the classic is less automated which might be actually better as they get older.

To add to the above a Classic had 3 batteries to the Elegant Lady’s 4 which has a big impact on dry camping. But if you ask my wife the difference it is the Elegant Lady has lights in every cabinet. If you never had them, you won’t miss them, but now that she has had them on the last 2 coaches the lack of them would be a deal breaker.

    Tim,

Outside of all the items listed above, when we were looking, we zeroed in on the classic for one main reason. We were looking at late 90’s era coaches. With the age, you add more potential items that can break. The Classic Lady (as someone pointed out) has less automated systems. This means less things to break down due to age/neglect/use and easier to fix.

Now I do have Elegant Lady envy when it comes to the bays. The water and dump bays are absolutely amazing! Especially when compared to the Classic. Polished Brass, Gold (maybe even golf leaf, Im not 100% sure it’s not 😉 ) painted plastic pipes, stainless hoses, stainless doors, etc.

We just got back from a 5 day dry camping (race tracks really need to put in full hookups with 50amp power) and the 3 batteries did us fine. We ran the generator in the evening to charge the batteries and that covered us each day to keep everything going just fine. Of course when on inverters, you don’t have access to the water heater and AC units, but the water stays hot all day and if you need the AC’s (which the classic does have four of), you can run the generator.

I am sure when we get ready to get another coach, we will need to make the decision of having to move to one of the more automated coaches. We will need to contemplate that decision when the time comes, but for now we are enjoying the simplified systems and reduced risk of things going wrong.

If you are looking at a late 90’s or early 2000’s you can’t really go wrong with a Classic Lady. It’s not like Liberty had Fleetwood making the Classic line for them or something. They are still top quaility, high-end coaches.

Does anyone really believe if you own a Prevost you are camping? Seriously?

Living in a tent or pooping in the woods is camping.

Call my old coach a camper and have since we bought it. Don’t know why. Some folks are shocked when you say you will come up in the camper. It’s just got everything in it.

My wife truly loves our Liberty. However she really likes the Marathon option posted. Jeff can you modify the filtered water faucet in the galley into a Cabatory and draw front the wine cellar below? We’ll see you in July with complete inventory!
