I saw a video of Mal and Dave a while back .Dave did say they will do Lithium batteries as an option. A very expensive option. Would not like the 1/2 generator thing I would not be able to run my welder.

Bernie, I do not recall the man’s name , but his general attitude about Lithium and bus-air was , we’ve done it in the past but the bus-air would be a special order and he just did not sound so sure about any of it.
You mentioned the heat issues with Lithium , Bernie—What heatiing issue are you speaking of ?

It doesn’t work that way at Marathon, they would of pushed you to an engineer in Coburg.
Marathon doesn’t thrive on bus air, volta 58 or lithium batteries because they don’t want to. Sure they can do it if wanted but casual conversation on a telephone and you don’t have a name and you form an opinion and dismiss them as unwilling, that’s bullshit.
Marathon has their own logic to the way they build a bus. If you agree with that or not is up to you to choose. I have seen your comments other places and realize your gathering info on a bus but have zero knowledge of how or why a coach is built a certain way so comments are easy from your position.
I have told you in earlier comments I would help you if needed and we could compare both builds side by side and you would be much more informed than just following internet banter.
As far as the heating issues there are only a few guys that post with new enough buses on here with lithium and I don’t know if they will blast on here what they have told me in private.
I would ask Frank.

Marathon has coach # 1202 for sale It is a 2012 H with 3 Lithium Batteries.

Well, Bernie, just like you ,I want what I want with emphasis on “I” and if I can’t get what I want from one converter I will go with the one that will give me what I want. AND THAT’S NO BULLSHIT. If I don’t want lent blowing all over my new paint job and the converter can’t figure out how to keep that from happening I will find one that will. As for what others have discussed with you in private, it is of NO use to me at all. I specifically asked if there was any one here that had any experience with Liberty and the Volta 58 volt Li system to please way -in. So far no one that HAS experience with that system has done so. I appreciate all the help you have offered and will continue to absorb all I can from you , but your own experience does non seem to entail Lithium /58 volt Volta systems whatsoever. There ARE plenty of questions you CAN assist me with as far as Prevost motorhomes though and I will take you up on your invitation to assist me Also, you never offered your email.
As far as those other people with experience in LI/volta 58 volt system I await there comments and experience. Thanks ,Mr. Bernie !
Also, I have communicated with Frank of Liberty and he was very helpful in explaining the Volta system and the way his coaches work . As I told him, I will get back with him when I am ready to pull the trigger , but first I needed to do much more research before my final decision —That’s why I posted these questions here , to get unbiased information from those using Libertys with the Volta system.

So, I think we all get that you want to tailgate without running the generator. What I think is missing is that until you actually know how you are going to use whatever coach you get, you won’t know how long anything is going to run.
How many other things will be sucking power besides the a/c units? There are all kind of parasitic loads that you may not think of such as the Crestron system, whatever refer you have and how many you have (wine cooler and refer in the bay), how much the water pump will run, do you microwave or cook while you are sitting, do you have tv sets on? They will also turn on the a/v amplifier etc. How many lights will be on? These all use power, which if you don’t have the engine or generator on will have to come from the batteries.
I think Libety is the best place to get some idea of what you can do, maybe they can demo it for you in the lot…see how long it will work with what you want to run.

CGS – I believe Chuck gave you some good feedback on his Liberty. As to your concerns about stinking up the venue with your generator, sooner or later, anyone attending with a motorhome is going to have to run their gen to charge batteries regardless of being LI, AGM or other wet batteries. We all have the same gen needs when dry camping, so it’s really not an issue.
Our generators are never used enough. My Marathon, 15 years old, will run 1 A/C for about 4 hours or 2 A/C’s for maybe 2 hours. Do I do that, hell no, I start the gen and don’t put all that heat and load on the 4024 inverters and batteries. Even Inverter Service will tell you it’s best not to use inverter power for A/C’s.
LI is a different ball game and a game changer for sure, so the way I do things with AGM’s is obsolete compared to Chuck and Mark’s newer coaches.

Thanks, Chuck and Bernie and everyone for all of your insight and helpfulness . I knew when I came to this forum I would get some very useful and unbiased advice from those with experience, but in the end it’s a choice the I have to really make on my own and not be hasty considering the price of these magnificent machines.
On a side note: Bernie, how do you get away with length restriction going through certain states with such a long train?
