  • Liberty #567. Maybe a toad

Posted by Karl on March 7, 2017 at 12:33 pm

Well guys, some of you know from Clawfest that Natalie and I are planning to do the catamaran thing. We have decided to change it up a little bit and not wait until our house sells to start off, so I am going to work on my Captain’s license and then we will charter it out for a while before we circumnavigate.

So, we are going to put our coach up for sale. Soon I will work on some pictures and do a formal ad, but first I thought I’d let you all know.

Looking around and considering how we have updated, repaired, maintained, and Wehrenberged EVERYTHING I thought we would ask $499k. Thoughts?

I also have a fortune in my Ford Edge that would make a great toad for someone buying my bus. It would help if they were younger because the sound system…..rocks. Should I offer as a pair? If separate, how do I find someone who can use and appreciate the Roadmaster attachments and the Air Force One?

Tom, it does have two slides. If you want to save me the trouble of listing I know that Nancy will be happy with it! 😉

Well I hate to see that coming Bonz, but understand. If my better half would have agreed, I would have a Trawler and would be living in margaritaville.

Put your toad on the flee market and when you ready to sell the bus, we’ll get you on the site.

Sorry to hear or your decision, but I understand your objectives.

To sell your coach which is unique in its systems it will be important to make sure the listing makes it clear what the systems are and their capability. While some may know or realize the benefits of turning off your water fill with a cell phone it is likely going to add value if you explain what those upgrades can do and how they are beneficial.

Don’t make it appear a person needs to be a geek to operate the various systems or understand them because the feedback we tend to get is that converters are making coaches way to complex and difficult to service. Study the market for pricing. Despite what you may have spent in upgrades the real value to buyers is impeccable service records. They probably add more value than a new paint job for example because most upgrades are based on what the owner wants rather than what the market as a whole desires.

Right, Jon, and because of your coaching I believe I have every single receipt since acquisition. I know _I_ would be happy to see them!

How’d you like my new verb…..Wehrenberged? LOL

Now the hard part……….putting those receipts in a format that shows continued maintenance on schedule and the scope of the updates.

Since it was zeroed out less than 5 years ago a buyer should have little to do other than to continue on schedule with the maintenance program.

Are you going to make Natalie do the waxing, washing, cleaning, etc?

    Karl and Natalie,

I’am sad to see your post above.

We all understand that changes are made and hobbies also change. As you do your captain’s license I also have a feeling your second guessing your boat choice.

Anyone looking for a coach way above the norm should check Karl’s bus out. I have been on board and it has been updated extensively.

My USCG lic is 50 ton, western rivers, eastern waterway’s clockwise, 3 mile outside radius. Currently parked in file. Parking the lic was an option after selling our boat and unable to document sea time.

    Thanks, Al.

I am only going to do a 6 pax to start. To be able to get into it faster and get Natalie out of the medical business, we will have to run it as a charter business for a couple years. Should also get a big tax break. Self certifying time won’t be that hard and keeping it up when you live on the boat is easy peasy.

Jon. Jon, Jon, Jon….. I just had the boat washed and waxed in Naples and you KNOW Natalie is doing the rest ! lol

Poor Natalie. Be careful Karl, if you are too tough on her she might want to go back to doctoring, dealing with insurance companies, hospital administrators and malpractice insurance policies.
