  • Level Low center valve leaking air

Posted by Gerald on February 8, 2018 at 6:58 pm

I notice air escaping from the center coil (red exhaust) of the 5 port manifold once I turn off ignition. It depletes all of aux air in short order (< 5 min). No air escapes with ignition on and the coach stays at ride height. No problem driving or parking without Level Low- so that is good.

I wonder what is going on. It seems the center valve is leaking aux air from the 5 port plenum when shut off. Isn’t that center needle valve supposed to seal off the aux air plenum once power is removed from the coil?

I have a spare coil and valve with me but hesitate to fool around with it since we’ll be on the road for several weeks.

Can any of you pneumatic wizards shed light on this? Does this sound just like a localized valve problem? Or is there something more mysterious going on?

    Thanks, Gerald

PS: It may or may not relate but my Level Low system is acting up too. I don’t seem to be able to lower or raise any position.

Gerald, If you have a solenoid valve the replacement is easy.

It appears the valve in there is leaking so a replacement is in your future. The coil is held in place with a spring ring. Easily removed with a screwdriver and then pull the coil from the valve stem.

The solenoid valve is held in place with 2 screws. Some were phillips, some were Torx but easly removed.

When you remove the valve body make sure you get the tiny center O ring as well as the large one out. When putting in the new valve body make sure the new O rings are secure in place on the bottom of the new valve.

    About a 5 minute job.

Tip: when removing that E – clip with a screw driver, put a rag over it so that when it flies off it cannot go far and you can spend less time looking for it than it takes to do the procedure in question.
