  • Last Saturday – Right Tag Axle Tire Blowout

Posted by DON on October 16, 2024 at 5:45 pm
10/12/24, right tag axle tire blowout, 7pm, 87*f, <65 mph, TX panhandle, straight flat hwy.
Tire = Goodyear Marathon RSA, speed rating = 75mph. DOT date 1221 (12th wk of 2021). I purchased and had it installed July 2021. Miles since new = 22,000.
Happened at approx 7pm last Saturday evening, while driving on I-27 southbound between Amarillo & Plainview, TX. Turned on the emergency flashers & quickly pulled off the side of the service road (firm grassy area). Stepped out of the bus and quickly assessed the situation. There didn’t appear to be any other damage to the bus.
Did a quick search on yelp for a “Plainview, TX mobile roadside tire service”. My first phone call I found “Emmanuel Mobil Truck & Trailer Repair” 806-808-3604 and talked to ” the business owner “Noe” about the situation. He was 20 miles away and arrived in 40 mins. He took the tire/wheel off, then we were better able to determine there was no other damage except for the tire. He made a call and found a lightly used Michelin XZE w/date code 4121. He went and picked it up, came back, quickly removed the bad tire, & installed the Michelin on my rim, and installed it on the bus.
We payed the man and we’re back on the road again by 10 pm.
Give em a call if you ever have a need while your in the Plainview TX area. He (Noe) does a lot more than just tire service.

Wow. Glad you are all OK. I would guess this is a lot better than a front blow-out

Glad no damage to your bus, Don.

Also, good to hear you found quick, competent help.

Lastly, Great write up… Detective Joe Friday could not have written a better report!
