The last time I was there I had the Corvette, but I would have taken the bus along the same route.

I-515 to Boulder City Highway, (93) to I-40, then south on 93 at exit 71, and then picked up 60 into Phoenix.

My only caution is if snow is likely just pay attention to the weather, especially in higher elevation areas.

Same route in reverse 6 months ago. Only thing to add is watch your speed carefully through the Boulder City area. They like to write tickets! I didn’t get one but it seemed that every other block somebody was being written up.

If you are coming to Las Vegas from PHX take 93 all the way to 215W if you are visiting Vegas try LVM great campground and not far from the strip.

We have been to LVM many time the price is OK with PC discount.

Call us when in Vegas we are not far we live in Las Vegas. Have a nice trip.

Hish, we are coming in to LV from the North to visit some old friends and have planned on staying at the LV Motorcoach Resort. We used to live near Twain and Ft. Apache and have friends still there. I’m sure things have changed “a little” in the last 14 years…

We plan to be in the area the first of October and will be leaving via the Southern route, heading back East. It will be our first time seeing the new bridge below the dam.

The route is pretty friendly;. Transition from 93 to I40 at Kingman is tricky and very congested. Lots of trucks trying to get into the truck stop there. Plan to be in the left lane 3 miles from I40 headed south, will make the left turn east easier onto I40. Best fuel prices are in Kingman at Flying J 3 miles east of the 93 I-40 turn. I always tank up there if you need fuel this is the place. Las Vegas will have expensive fuel compared to Flying J. East of Kingman about 17 miles you will head south on 93 a combination of two lane and four lane roads. They are working on this (not in winter) to make the whole road from Las Vegas to Phoenix the new I-11. If you need a break do it at Wikiup. Lots of open places to pull over and park, not much beyond Wikiup to Wickenburg. Mostly four lane from Wikeup has Wickenburg and has a number of elevation changes.

There is a great deal of traffic on this road—including a lot of truck traffic. Between I-40 and Wikeup, Arizona there are rolling hills. From Wikieup, about milepost 123, south to milepost 160 there are many 5-6% grades both uphill and downhill. These grades are not usually steady but stair step up or down and can add up to a considerable length—as much as 5 or 6 miles. This section is also quite curvy.

From milepost 161 to milepost 172 is a long straight pull for southbound traffic or a long descent for northbound traffic. Most of the grade is 3-4%.the road.

The bridge is really something to see. We go to Las Vegas 2 or 3 times a year mainly staying at the Las Vegas Motorcoach Resort (going in a coach for over 10 yrs. now). We were in LV a few weeks ago but we stayed at the Bellagio.

We watch them build the bridge, they started each side at the same time and met in the middle. That was sure some major engineering!

In a car, you can’t see over the bridge because the wall/rail is high, in the coach, you should be able to see over.
