We will be picking up or new to us Marathon in a few weeks and making a list of things we need to get.
Wondering if most of you carry a ladder with and if Yes what type?
Thanks for the input…. we are getting excited…

Bill, That is not the exact ladder, but the concept is the same as the one I have used for 22 years. It is a step ladder, can be opened as a bridge, or can be fully opened so you can get on the roof. When folded the space it takes is not much and except for my tools, there is nothing else more important that I bring with us.
A google search of folding ladders will provide you with pages of options.
One comment. Not knowing how you will use your coach, space in the bays may be critical or not so important. When you know how you want to arrange the bays to fit in all your stuff (we all carry a lot of stuff) just consider the ladder to be vital and thus easily accessed.

before you go out and buy a ladder your new marathon just might have one in the bay! Mine came with one.

There are two critical needs for a ladder. The obvious one is use as a step ladder to do things such as snapping the privacy (sun) screens in place. You have to get high enough to snap them in place across the top of the windshield for example.
But a second and less needed, but critical need is to get you up on the roof. You may need to get up there for a number of reasons such as to lower a failed TV antenna, service an awning that won’t retract, do an emergency leak repair, etc.
A ladder is but one important tool we all need to haul around with us, including such things as tire pressure gauges, IR thermometer gun, a good multi-tester, various hand tools and spares.

I agree with you they are always handy to have, especially when you forget to lower a roof vent and then discover some 100 miles down the road “you no longer have a roof vent but a nice square hole.”
Just don’t hang it off the back of the coach like some kind of Dust Bowl Okie, gawd I hate to see that.

Sid,
I have looked it over pretty good and I don’t see it… where was yours in the Bay?
Also, where is the best place to climb up on the roof? Both sides have awnings, Front looks like it would be hard and the back has all kinds of fluff stuff up top?
Just don’t want to break my neck…
Thanks
Bill

My ladder opens enough so I can lean it against the awning box. I cover the end of the ladder with a folded towel so it does not scratch or dent the awning.
Help yourself as much as possible by making sure the ladder is tall enough, but also lower the bus. Pick a spot where you can hang on to something while getting off the ladder and onto the roof, and also to make it easier to get back down the ladder.

bill mine is in the second bay on the drivers side I believe it came from marathon that way. Give them a call the are so helpful. I’ve used them a bunch with stuff that I was having trouble with turning on or off. Great company

I keep my ladder in the spare tire bay behind the front bumper. Royale has an electrically lowered front bumper that provides easy access to the spare tire bay. As well as the ladder I use the same area to store deionizing cylinders, hoses, extension brushes and a pressure washer to care for my Bus.
