KVH RV1
Posted by Chip & Pam on June 15, 2016 at 9:58 pmdo any of you have a KVH RV1 sat system? If so, do you have any positive or negative feedback? I am really leaning towards a KVH RV1 to replace my old tracstar 360.
Thanks

We had a mobile satellite pro do a software upgrade on our Tracstar 360 and it is working great.. just used it everyday for 3 weeks and its awesome.
I have heard that the KVH RV1 is a good unit… I was first told to get the Winegard but then the Mobile sat guru said the best by far is the KVH RV1. Holds a signal better than the Winegard units.
if you search the Forum there was a heap of info listed under Tracstar 360.
Cheers, Diane

Replaced our original Trac Star satellite last week with a KVH RV-1 resulting from recommendations from Liberty and several RV satellite installers. Demonstration was straight forward and simple….Haven’t been out yet to test but hope to in next two weeks…..

Brady, and anyone who has changed or is thinking of changing there current kvh satellite with another kvh rv1 or A9 I think is the model. Kvh is offering a 200 dollar rebate during the month of june. Approved kvh dealer must fill out form. See kvh.com

That is correct for the rebate, however the issue is getting units from KVH. We keep units on order with them constantly…They do not have it together as far as getting product out to the dealer. That is the only negative I have on their units…

I received the discount from my installer for the KVH RV-1 and as Jeff indicated, took 3 weeks to get it…..

I have one negative comment regarding KVH. We had one on a previous coach and it quit working. We spoke to various KVH technicians over a period of a few weeks and they were consistent in blaming everything from our coach to the alignment of the planets. The problem in fact was their unit would not lock on a signal and it was their contention nothing was wrong with their device or components, and everything was wrong with our coach.
They insisted their unit was not the problem but in fact our system wasn’t seeing the signal their dish picked up.
I ended up on the roof of the coach and manually pointed the KVH at the satellite and when I did that we had a great picture. That was when I switched to the TracStar. I hope it never fails. It has been superb.

other than Jons negative experience, it sounds like KVH is the way to go. As soon as we get back to the NCR I’ll look at ordering. We are on the road to Conroe Texas. It’s time to move my mother away from the San jacinto river up to my sisters in North Carolina.
As Jeff mentioned, the service getting a unit may be my issue. I’m used to the type of service I’m reading about, it does sound like KVH may have studied in DC. The motto around here is: Shitty service with an attitude
