folks we have been on the road now about 2 months , how do you guys keep your bus a nice and pretty

we left Tacoma Washington and now in SAN Antonio tx ,heading for Houston on Friday

I have paid 2 times to have the bus washed with deionized water

I did i myself once in Bakersfield calif and that turned out to be a night mare. it left the bus almost white from all the calcium in the water . spent the next day and I mean all day washing the bus again with bottled water to get her a pretty again

I use an On-the-Go mixed bed de-ionizer (bought on-line) to wash and rinse the bus. Sometimes I use a portable electric pressure washer (Lowes) depending on how easy it is to access RV park water connection. I have also washed the coach using fresh holding tank water and the pressure washer. Easy and always spotless. No need to wipe it down.

I use WashWax (Aero Cosmetics on-line) to ‘wax’ the coach twice a year. Mirror finish. Amazingly easy with the kit they sell.

303 Protectant on tires and plastic.

Took me 20 years to figure this out but now I have plenty of time to sit around and drink bottled water.

I wash it with soap and water to get the grime off. Then I go over it with waterless wash and microfiber cloths to get the waterspots off. Works pretty good.

If I’m in a campground that won’t allow washing and explain I’m using my own water with my DI system, I have never been turned down. I hook my DI system to the Marathon external hose hook up using the pump. One place said they would send the manager by, he looked at my setup and said no problem. We probably use a lot more water running the washer than it takes to wash the bus with very low flow DI coming out of a 1/4 inch line.

Last time I washed or had the coach washed was a year ago. Just as we entered Florida there is a double lane Blue Beacon. I know I had a discount card and probably a freebee from Jon and Tom for all the great posts I’d made, so I used it. I was a little concerned about the pressure they were using, but it didn’t take off any paint. I opted for the full coach Rain-X treatment (think we got a PC discount on that). Coach looked really nice.

All last summer I was “going to wash the coach this week” and then it would rain and coach would be awfully close to being perfectly clean. From 30 or 40 feet it looked perfect.

This past Christmas Eve day we drove from Green Bay to La Crosse (WI) with temps about 8*F and very, very, very light snow. The road crews had tossed salt out ahead of time and the roads were wet, but not slippery. By the time we got to La Crosse the coach and the car were covered in salt, big time. The crew at ETLC can attest to how bad it looked. We came past the double lane Blue Beacon and we were behind our flight plan, so I opted NOT to stop. We had the worst looking coach at Grand Oaks RV Resort near The Villages for the first day. But for the last two days we’ve had lots of rain; one day and night from the east, and the next from the west.

Believe it or not, the coach looks great again. I can only attribute it to the year old Rain-X treatment. Maybe when we get to Sarasota I’ll hand wash it, but I’m expecting that to not take too long.

    Dick,

Where will you be staying in Sarasota if you don’t mind me asking? Sarasota is our winter home.
