Sitting in a parking lot and a Penske driver backs into the bus. Not much damage but will need to repair awning bracket. Anyone know where to get this?

International Bus Parts should have rivets for you. Steve Kolb will be ready to take your call in the morning.

You’ll probably want to get a really heavy duty river setter to set them. Something with long arms.

According to the Zip Dee website they send screws. I have called multiple dealers here in the MI area and the responses are all about the same…………We used to be Zip Dee dealers………

I will give Busman a call. I also tried to contact Zip Dee by e-mail and we will see if anything comes of that. We may be finishing work here in Detroit and could drive back down to see Jeff at ETLC!

Many, many years ago we along with a number of other coaches had awnings ripped off or damaged by strong sudden winds in Colorado Springs. We adjusted our route home and stopped at the ZipDee facility near Chicago and they repaired and improved the entire awning system.

Detroit is not that far from Chicago.

    Dan,

I did not want to bother you but finding Zip Dee parts seems to be impossible. We are just finishing up work in MI and will find out today if they are shipping us elsewhere. As soon as I have a location for you to ship the parts I will give you a call. I am very grateful for the offer and will be in touch shortly.

If I do have to travel can I just remove the front pair of arms with the awning retracted without causing an issue while we drive? I am concerned the bottom bracket will breakaway from wind and vibration while driving.

I would suggest securing the awning roll at the top if it is hanging on there without arms.

I did not remove the arms as one of them has a rivet and would require removing the entire head. We drove 400 miles today and the arm did not move so I think we are OK until we can get the parts and, hopefully, have Jeff at ETLC install them. That’s the plan. It will be interesting to see if it works out!
