    While I’m a newbie who only has 7,000 miles on my Marathon, the forums have been a noteworthy resource. Yes, we don’t know what we don’t know, but here’s one of the things I’ve learned about Prevost ownership and I’m curious if you can identify with this statement…

    There are two categories of Prevost owners:

    1) Those who buy a Prevost and enjoy getting dirty;

    2) Those who buy a Prevost to stay clean.

    Since I’m not mechanically inclined, I fall into category #2. When talking to my friends who went the Class A route, I realize how fortunate Prevost owners are to have such a variety of both factory and independent service locations that can get us in and out for routine maintenance in a timely manner. Class A owners seem to have to much longer waits for service than Prevost owners and I’ve heard too many stories about them having to make an appointment to make an appointment. Personally, the very few times by bus has needed service, obtaining an appointment has been a pleasurable experience.

    So, which category do you fall into? Do you enjoy working on your bus or do you prefer to have maintenance items handled by professionals?

    I’ll clarify and say that I created a binder of detailed pre- and post-trip checklists that are specific to my coach and am getting comfortable in recognizing symptoms when something may be showing signs of needing attention. I’m also not shy in making an appointment to have it looked at with a trained set of eyes or to have it checked out before a long trip. I’m just glad we have so many options scattered around the map to obtain timely service. It seems that Class A owners are not as fortunate.
