Jeff’s magic wand
How come you guys haven’t told us newer Prevost owners about Jeff’s magic wand? He just waved it over the coach, and the air leaks magically diappeared! Seriouosly, he changed out the rest of the brake chambers today. His mechanics were done by the time we came back from lunch. So far after about 10 hours, I haven’t lost any pressure on the aux and F/R brake guages. Prior to Jeff’s work, I would have been down 30-40 pounds on the guages already. He ordered parts for some additional work, but we should be out of here by the weekend to head down to the Air and Coach Concourse next week. Will definitely head back later–have talked to Jeff about some interior renovation we’re thinking about for next year.

Per, Jeff does possess magical qualities, but replacing brake chambers has nothing to do with repairing your leaks in the brake system.
When your bus is parked there is no pressure at all on any of the brake chambers. So Jeff did other work to correct the problem, or it is a coincidence.
The reason for making everyone aware of the fact there is zero pressure on the brake chambers when the bus is parked is to help everyone understand if an air leak in an emergency brake chamber is creating a serious problem, it will always be possible to air up the entire coach so with full pressure the emergency brakes can be then released so the coach can be moved a short distance to a safer spot (until the air loss again locks the brakes).
My guess is your brake system air loss is elsewhere such as a slightly open air tank valve or a leaky relay valve or even a leak in the air lines to the gauges.

Of course you are right that he did other work to correct the leaks–that’s where the magic wand comes in! As of this morning, the brake pressure is still at the same reading–that’s fantastic! I have had Prevost shake down air leaks several times, but never got a result like this. I would have loved taking it to Jeff’s for all the initial work we had done on the coach, but frankly wasn’t sure if the coach would make it that far. But by now we are in pretty good shape on the mechanical side.

Well, Jeff is all finished–just waiting on the bill. Took the time to go over the coach with waterless wash and wax so Jon and Tom won’t give us any grief about showing up at a rally with a dirty coach. See you all in Lakeland in a few days!

As long as your coach is going to be looking good, perhaps you c an clean mine when I get there.
It’s not supposed to rain for the trip so it won’t be too much work. I’ll help by supervising.

Thanks for taking my magic wand away Jon…..Air leaks found were in a position that was very difficult to see with soap, however the ultrasound found them with out a problem…

Jeff finally tracked down a pesky leak for us with his headphones and ultrasound doodad. His exerience and knowledege are at the root of his success I think.

I have a question….
If I were to leave the ignition key in the acc. position, would that be a problem (turned to the left)? I would be connected to 50 amp shore power.

I don’t see a reason why it would be a problem, except to echo Jeff’s question as to why. Also be aware that unless you have the chassis battery charger on you will be draining the chassis batteries.

The reason I ask is that the electric door lock buttons will stay energized so that they don’t go to sleep.
I always keep the battery charger on.

Clearly you are making adjustments to deal with something that is not working as intended.
The real answer is to get the door key pad issue resolved. I don’t think there is any harm in what you are doing but you should not have to do it.
