    Jake question

    Hi, I am looking at a 93 marathon XL with 8V 92 engine and on the dash it has a switch for the Jake brake. However during the test drive the Jake brake switch had no effect and no Jake noise. The bus does have a transmission retarder. How can I tell if the engine has a Jake and it’s just not working or did they put the switch on the dash on all units whether or not the engine had the Jake equipment?
