  • Iverter life span

Does the life span of an inverter shorten if it is constantly running? When I store for 3-4 weeks, I turn off the 12 and 24 breakers in the rear engine compartment and run only a battery tender for my 6- 12 volt house system batteries. I do have full 50amp power available but don’t know if the life of my inverter will suffer..

I never turn off my inverters. I don’t think the life is impacted because when they function as battery chargers there is really very little going on that would impact their life.

However……..if you are concerned you have the greatest control over the health of your inverters and one thing you can do is periodically clean out the accumulated dust and lint that tends to collect and always be aware the internal fan must function otherwise heat can build up when the inverter is working, and heat will damage it.

You would be amazed ar the dust accumulation even with the inverters in nice carpeted bays.
