My friend Larry had a 1997 Vantari and my wife had just gotten into Saddlebred Horses,he told me to not waist my money and just go ahead and purchase a Prevost,so in 2006 I purchased a 2001 Marathon and in 2007 I purchased a 2005 Liberty then a year later I purchased a 2008 Liberty which I still have.I have only been in campgrounds in all 3 coaches a total of 3 nights,we do horse shows and vintage races which are 50-70 nights a year in the coach.I was not sure this would work but looking back the Ritz Camper is the best decision I made for our hobbies.

I bought my first MH 13 years ago not long before Heidi and I got married, oh and I didn’t tell her I was buying it. It was a 1997 Winnebago Brave 32′ class A gasser. She came over and saw it sitting in the driveway. First words out of her mouth was “How old do you think we are?” We got married a few months later and took our honeymoon in it. Went to NC to the Biltmore Estate and loved going down the road in it.

Since then we have had a 2005 Kountry Star gasser, 2 2000 Mountain Aires, a 38′ 5th wheel (hated it) and a 2011 Mountain Aire quad slide. I was aware of the Prevost buses but never thought I could afford one of those.

Years ago, long before my first MH I sang lead in a gospel quartet. We traveled in an Itasca but would open concerts for groups out of Nashville that would roll in in a Prevost. At age 20 I was fascinated with those buses. I wanted to see inside one so bad but never had the guts to ask. One night before an Eagles concert (no we weren’t performing at that one :-)), I saw 4 H’s lined up behind the convention center and was in awe.

Well we purchased our first Prevost in December of 2013, a 2003 Liberty non slide. Loved it! At the time of purchase the plan was to spend a few winter months in it in Florida and take a few short trips throughout the rest of the year. Four months later we took a position with a Class A Motorcoach Resort in Michigan and are now in our bus around 8 months out of the year. Heidi said…I love ya babe but I need some slides. We now have a 2005 Marathon with 2 slides and are thrilled with it.

There is nothing that compares to going down the road in one of these things. I’d rather drive it than my truck.

Great Topic and reading how everyone got into their bus.

I picked up our first RV the day before my oldest daughter was born in 2000. It was a 26′ Tiffen Allegro. We had that for 4 years and traveled extensively until we had daughter number two and ran out of space. We upgraded to a quad slide Newmar Dutch Star while on a trip. I always wanted a prevost and we looked seriously for three years until we found our current 2007 Marathon dual slide bunk coach. We found PC right around the time we purchased and everyone here has been a great help ever since. We took our kids out of school last year and traveled for 15 months and traveled to all 49 states. It was an amazing experience and we can’t wait to do it again!

We have met so many amazing people along the way. In our opinion it’s just the best way to travel!

One very important thing to remember is that no matter what you end up with, this is a lifestyle more than anything else. I would much rather be in the bus than at home. For the most part, when we are traveling, we live “outside”. We ride our bikes, go for walks, explore the area, visit (a lot) with those around us and even watch tv outside. Its inspiring to see people out doing something, anything other than parking themselves on a couch and growing old in front of the tv. At home we greet our neighbors when we see them out but rarely do we all gather around a fire in someones back yard. This however is a common occurence on any given evening in an RV resort. We make friends that we would have otherwise never met and always look forward to seeing them down the road again. What we do, how we live can not be matched any other way. Boating would probably come the closest, and we’ve done that, but it has a lot more limitations than traveling by bus (in my opinion ). Enjoy the hunt and then the adventure really begins.

We have had a fairly unconventional path to our Prevost. After starting out tenting on fishing trips in our twenties, our first testing the waters of motorhoming came ironically through what my golf buddies and I deemed the Motorhome Timeshare.

My wife and I always wanted one but were unsure we would like it. The MH Timeshare provided us the perfect opportunity to give it a shot. Splitting the cost, insurance and maintenance expenses six ways, on a then new 1997 Monaco Windsor through the LLC worked great. Great for us! After a calmady of accidents, acts of mother nature and one of the shareholders laying it on its side, the group discussed dissolving the LLC and liquidating “the asset?”. After two years they all wanted out except Cli and I. We purchased the coach for 50% of the wholesale value and named it Tiger Pause.

It would take me 7 1/2 innings of a baseball game to tell the story. Its a story which would make the movies RV and Chevy Chase’s Christmas Vacation look like child’s play. We traded the snake bitten coach for a used 2000 Windsor, then purchased his 2002 from the same gentleman. Great coach till we lost it in a fire where stored. We then replaced it with an ’04 Dynasty.

In spring of ’13 my neighbor and good friend Brady, a fellow PC member, purchased his first coach an ’03 Liberty. I drueled all over it on day one and told him if he ever got rid of it to give us first right of refusal. In February of last year he told me he wanted to upgrade and asked if we were still interested in buying. Cli and I intended in buying a Prevost after I retired in July of this year. To say the least we bought Tiger Pause Vl in March of last year. We could not pass up an opportunity to purchase a Prevost in excellent condition and know the owners well.

Over the years we have had some quality coaches and tremendous times. The opportunity to continue our enjoyment in the premier chassis converted by one of the best is absolutely wonderful. Many times since buying the Prevost we have asked each other,why did we not do this sooner? The answer; “All part of the dream”.

We were sitting on our deck last October, our friends had just left with their Prevost earlier that day. I looked over at The Redhead, and asked “What do you think about selling the vacation house in Wyoming and buying a Prevost?”Now, The Redhead’s idea of camping is a Holiday Inn Express, so I was amazed when she came back with “I love the idea.”

So in our mid-fifties we bought our first Prevost, a 94 CC. It had been cared and fed by the same owner for 20 years, sitting in it’s own heated an airconditioned shed. The price was too good to pass up, but it needed some updating. We’ve replaced floors, furniture, tv’s, window treatments, front tires, have a new fridge on order with Jeff(he’s going to replace it when we show for the COT session in July), etc.

Took it out over the weekend for it’s maiden flight, we have a few squawks to address, but absolutely love it!

I have to add that the knowledge and experience on this board is invaluable, probably twice the cost of the dues! Thanks folks.

We went from a tent as cub scouting ended to a Prevost as first go round for RVing….Has been a steep learning curve but one we have enjoyed. Whether rallies, campgrounds or tailgating, we have enjoyed meeting new friends along the way. We watched Tommy and Cli for years and thought this would be fun!! On our second Prevost and couldn’t be happier….

Safe travels and one day, hope to make our first Prevost Community No Rally Rally!!
