Interior “Vinyl” has become “STICKY”
Hi folks. After three Prevosts and doing most of my own maintenance work, I need help. We have a 2000/1999 45 XLV by Liberty. Love this bus. Problen is , a few months ago I noticed the interior (vinyl) material has become sticky to the touch. The dash, the door panel, the vavance, even the ceiling panels are very sticky to the touch. What can or should be done to get rid of this? Please , has anyone had this problem? Please let me know. 954-646-4490 Uncle George. Thanks for any ideas or solutions.

I don’t have any answers for your George, never experienced that in my two Libertys, but Jeff will likely jump in here.

Try wiping it down with mineral spirits.

Probably wouldn’t be the case but had heater core leaking in truck and it had the same ID (sticky)until core let loose inside. It was antifreeze mist and bothered me for about 2 months off and on until she went.

Steve and Rhonda…..can’t thank you enough.!!! I was a bit skeptical but tried the mineral spirits on the underside of the dash. It worked!! I have today finished wiping/cleaning the affected areas with the mineral spirits and now all are soft and nice to the touch….no more sticky… Thank you very much.

I am so glad that I read this as I have two old Mercedes (also one that I sold to my brother) that are doing the same thing on the steering wheel buttons. On the oldest one (1990), the area above the rear view mirror is sticky too…. I’ll give it a try. It only has 57,000 original miles on it so I want to stay looking new!

Same here, Mark. Our Mercedes has sticky buttons on the steering wheel.
