How about a picture of the bulb.. I just ordered the disc type LED’s with extended pins to fit inside the fixtures.

Tom, aren’t the fixtures used by Liberty the ones that have the bulb inserted straight up rather than horizontal? If so, where did you find the disc style LEDs that will mount in those fixtures.

They make G4 LEDs with pins in up direction and side pins as well.

My 97 Liberty had the bulbs installed vertically, my 06 has the bulbs installed horizontally. Same bulbs, different orientation.

I’be seen G4 LED replacement bulbs that will work for either vertical or horizontal configurations. I haven’t seen the disc style for horizontal pins but not vertical. Can someone post a link. I’ve had a couple folks asked me for the same, but I didn’t find any, even the expensive ones.

I worked with Hero to make the back pin bulbs with extended pins, .98″ long. Here’s the link to what I ordered and they are 5.20 each.

Tom, great info on a product that doesn’t appear available anywhere else. The problem many will face with the conventional G-4 replacement bulb is that the reflector in conventional fixtures are significantly blocked by these bulb replacements replacement. Most LEDs are highly directional, so they need to be aimed at were you need the light given they get little benifit from the fixture based reflector. That’s why I like the disc versions for the ceiling mounted halogen fixtures most of us have.

The ones I installed are fully dimmable for the full Marathon switch range. They are great and are as good as the halogens they replaced and cool to the touch. i emailed Tom some pics of the part and the installation.Tom is going to publish them for me I was unable to post them on the forum.

That’s been the problem with finding LED compatible with Marathon Tech Link system. Some have changed out bulbs and with-in a couple of weeks 50% failure due to dimming.

I have heard another story about leaving one only halogen to fool Tech Link.

Sooner or later there would be a solution found. Marathon was changing lighting systems out and reprograming Tech link with prices above $1000 dollars I’ve heard. Most of the expense being high priced LED’s.

At few dollars each this changes everything.

At $1.00 each I can chage them on weekly bases without every having to spend $2K they want for that job. I bpught few extras just in case that happens. I have had some of these bulbs installed for over two months without issues.

Looks just like the ones I have had in for over 2 years.. Don’t remember # but when I built coach I did 100% led. used some with prongs on back also.. Fwiw also liked so much I replaced all my landscape lites with them–sure stopped all that bulb changing.. Never understood the price converters were charging??? One point I found that in some cases for some unknown reason they were polarity sensative.. I don’t know elect that well but if you get one that don’t work check the fixture feed for plus -minus… Just what I learned from hands on. Bob
