  • Interior color coordination input needed

Posted by David on July 17, 2020 at 7:36 pm

When I got this coach, the PO had removed the material from the window valances due to poor condition, and painted it. I had it recovered it black suede thinking it would “disappear” when you look out the windows, and it does, you barely notice the frames. However, with the custom black couches, recovered black booth, something just doesnt look right. What do i need to do to make this color coordinated? I dont mind having the valances done again.. should i do the ceiling in all black? Valances in gray to match?

Notice how the valances and upper cabinetry do not match the leather chairs, couch and dinette in this 2009 Liberty but they contrast. One is light and one is dark. When its all dark or all light, one flowing into the other it is not as appealing as the contrast IMO. Light furniture might help. There are computer programs than can take your photo and play with different concepts until you find one you like. Best of luck.

Neutralize the interior colors. Make the interior neutral with black, grey, light grey, and white, then add accent color in rugs and pillows. dinner ware etc. When you grow tired of the color change the accent rugs, pillows etc.

What you have so far (IMHO) is kinda Art Deco.

Consider looking at the men’s ties that have been fashioned out of designs by the late architect Frank Lloyd Wright:

If you hunt around there are probably 25 to 40 different designs. Some better than others. Have the designs printed onto fabric and then put on the bolsters between the windows. Will provide a touch of color and grace.

I did, found some cool stuff, and picked out a 1.8 million dollar coach that is just PERFECT. There is just the small issue of 1.7 million dollars…
What Im finding is I really like whites and grays. I like bright colors, but as someone mentioned…when they are pillows and rugs and I can change them. I think thats a solid plan.
Ive got an upholstery guy that will recover my couches and booth, as well as the window valances for less than $2k, he does good work to.
