Inoperative Analog Water Temp Gauge
Need help diagnosing my dash analog water temp gauge. On drive back from FLA, the gauge slowly went from correctly reading to a bouncy reading. The needle bounce severity increased with time and was affected each time the bus hit a pothole. The bouncing needle trended towards zero, and after an hour, the needle went to zero with no further movement. During the trip, I used RV Dash, and the DDEC supplied readings showed the expected water (coolant) temps of approx. 200 deg F the entire time, with no associated bouncing as noted on the analog gauge. I neglected to observe the engine compartment analog gauge after parking.
My question is, what is most likely the problem – bad analog gauge or defective sending unit. Trouble shooting suggestions.
