Indy 500 Parking
Our new to us Liberty Prevost should be ready in the next week or so. We plan on taking it to the Indy 500 (I’ve missed only two 500’s since 1968 … both for weddings).
Any suggestions on where to park? I’ve noticed motorhomes parked in the huge parking lot on the south side of 16th Street across from the main entrance (kinda of where the Holiday Inn/then Classic was located). Anyone have experience there? Where to make arrangements?
Anyone stay in the Coke Lot (west of Georgetown Road, north of 25th Street)? I’ve driven by it many times, but it looks like grass, no gravel or pavement, and I don’t want to have to hire a D8 Cat on our first trip with the coach.
40 years ago we stayed in motorhome I think on property owned by the American Legion or VFW. Is that still viable?
We plan on pulling a car so we can be flexible, but would like to stay close to the track.

We stayed in the south lot in an area roped off for a group of us that were viewing the race from one of the suites.
Never again.
All was good up until the moments after the race when the morons in plastic motorhomes thought it would be fun to set fire to the trash barrels. That wasn’t enough so some of the morons tipped the barrels and started rolling them. If the burning trash took out a few Winnebagos that would have been OK, except as the barrels rolled the trash fell out and the burning trash was blowing underall the RVs including ours.
I guess we are not party folks. We left so our bus wouldn’t catch fire.

Ive stayed in Lot 2 for a MotoGP Race there. That was in a much smaller setup though (well with truck/trailer was probably at 45 feet overall). From looking at Indy’s website, it looks like Lot 4 is setup for larger coaches. Also provided 50amp power for an additional fee.
Lot 2 was very convienent for getting into the paddock/infield (entrance is just across the street). Entrance to Lot 2 was pretty easy as well off Auburn Street.
