Have heard rumors: Don’t understand technology. That the broadcast(satalite) technology is changing this year and will not be compatable with some in motion systems. Might check with your Sat supplier Disnetwork etc and make sure. We have track vision on boat and you can do circles with it.

We had a KVH originally. I am sure what we had was not current technology, but when we had problems with it it became a nightmare. Their tech support was not able to help us on the phone. We finally went to one of their dealers who hooked it all up to a laptop and diagnosed the problem as the receiver. We bought a new receiver and nothing had changed.

I finally got with KVH again and went through a whole bunch of exercises to identify the problem and the finger pointing was everywhere but at their equipment. It would not lock onto a signal. I finally pulled the cover and manually aimed it at the satellite (Di was in the coach telling me signal strength and picture quality). When it pointed at the satellite everything was OK, but the problem was the KVH innards did not know when it was receiving a signal so I gave up.

I found out entertainers were using TracStar because they are built to a military standard and are trouble free. For six years or so we have had a TracStar and it has been very fast to lock onto a signal, has been trouble free with two minor exceptions and support has been exactly right as to the cause. The two issues were both related to cable connections, one being a barrell connector between my cable and the dish. The support guy zeroed in on that and an intermittent problem went away. Last year it quit and again the support guy was right on. He said we had a loose or bad connection and after a lot of searching I found a connector that had separated inside the coach beneath the sofa.

My experience was bad and lengthy with the KVH, and my experience with the TracStar has been excellent based on its reliability and support. I like the fact that from the dish to the boxes inside the coach there is one coax cable making installation easy.

I can tell you that Liberty used to use KVH, but because of problems switched to TracStar. The TracStars have worked perfectly for me and I would recommend them.

I
just recently upgraded the Royale to a Trac Star SV 360 and it works
great. One reason I chose Trac Star is because the only wires
required from the sat dish is the coax cable. Since I was replacing
an old unit with a bundle of wires and coax, I didn’t want to have to
run all new wiring, as the old stuff was inaccessible in places.

I
believe Trac Star is the only one out there that uses a single coax
cable and no additional wiring needed.

Dale, we had two different KVH units. Each was worse than crap. every problem was some place other than KVH. Switched to Trac Star a few years back. Best item we have on the bus. For what it’s worth.

He said yes, it’s the best.

I have a Winguard in motion sat. from Camper world because they are close to me. It has been trouble free and was about $800 cheaper than tracstar!!
