  • Ice Maker Valve

Posted by John & Billie Jo on September 4, 2019 at 5:00 pm

We have looked everywhere on our coach and cannot figure out to turn the ice maker on. There has to be a valve for the water somewhere, but all the valve we find in our bays are tagged and non pertain to the ice maker or refrigerator. We have an old coach, but it is the original Amanda refrigerator.

We have a 99 Liberty XLV with two lavatories. Our ice maker valve is behind a panel under the lavatory sink. After Jeff Rowe showed it to me in our coach it made sense. Water comes up from under the shower, then heads to the front of the coach.

You still have the Amana. Probably the same model we had. It quit making cold at about 16 or 17 years. I probably coulda tried to fix it, but given its age I decided against that.

Its amazing how long some of those Amana’s are lasting. They just keep on running. We replaced our Amana with a Kenmore. Nice refer, but it sure isn’t an Amana!

So I did have a promising panel under my lave sink but no valve. The WD combo is in a closet next to the fridge and its not in any of those closet panels either. Incidentally, the drum belt has apparently broken on the washer combo it wont spin. It looks like a big job to cut it out of the closet but I may find the fridge valve under there since the W/D must have a valve at its connection.

John, If you have exhausted all places to look the valve may be behind the refrigerator. On my 97 it was in a pipe chase under the lav but it could just as easily been behind the refigerator where some coaches have an RO unit and accumulator.

I have a 3″ high platform you can have that facilitates refrigerator removal so when we get back to TN I will give you a heads up and see if you want it.

    Sure! Thanks Jon!

I have to pull my Washer/dryer out and replace what I hope is a broken belt I hoped it might be back there behind that since they are next to each other. My fridge sits right over the road-air so no luck in that bay where “I” would have conveniently placed it! HAHA!

While I am already seeking advice…… When I remove the W/D combo, There are also no visible shutoff valves to the water on it; so are there generally flex lines like in a residential application that I can see and disconnect upon sliding the Washer out of its closet?

I wish I could remember because I pulled the Splendide out in our 87 to make repairs a couple of times. Too long ago.
