  • I95 vs florida turnpike

In the Port St Lucie area you can take either road south. We will be heading south to the Keys from this area in Jan. and I was interested which road you thought would be better. I prefer less traffic if possible! Paying tolls is ok with me if traveling is better. Your thoughts? Rick

If you dont hit a rush hour the 95 extention will zip you to homestead and than the keys i dont use the turnpike ,, When in Homestead you need to check out coral garden it amazing built by one little man

I prefer the Turnpike, in order to get to the Keys( well actually US1 in Fla City) you want to exit at the turnpike extension as you enter Miami/Dade county. Another way thats even a little quicker is to take the Sawgrass which merges into I 75 that will also get you to the turnpike extension,as for US1 into the keys….good luck..avoid the weekends

The turnpike is usually the best way although it gets a little busy going though Broward county. You don’t want to be on any part of I-95 after you are past Palm Beach, especially during rush hours!

Taking the Sawgrass from Boca to reconnect with the Turnpike in Dade county is a good idea as well.
