I Should Know Better
Posted by granvil on August 16, 2013 at 8:09 amDecided to cycle my Aqua Hot today just to make sure all was in order. Of course, it was making a whining sound and kicked off the breaker. Any words of wisdom ..or just turn up the music and try to drown out the sound ?

Granvil…..Did you resolve your fresh water fill problem ?
-
I did, was hoping I could get away without saying, turns out the filter on the fill line was completely clogged. The site we rented in nc had not been used in quite a while ( privately owned) and we surmise that the line was pretty dirty . The take away was to run the fresh water for a little while before hooking to coach

I was having a problem once and found that my filters were plugged also, but it look like carbon granules so I assumed they were from the CW blue carbon filters I was using. Still do think that.

Granvil,
Is the breaker your talking about the 120v breaker that controls the electric portion of the hot water function or some other breaker? The pumps and Webasto are 12 or 24 volt, so I’m trying to understand what circuit protection you are talking about that tripped. A whining noise could be the Webasto motor or various pumps that circulate the coolant.

it’s a button on the panel, I’m guessing its 12 v …in any event I cycled it a few times and it started working….I’m guessing the whirring / whining was it motoring and not igniting….sorta like the engine in the chopper ?

Granvil,
I have found several issues that cause the aqua hot to not light off .
Low DC voltage to the blower motor.
Dirty aqua hot fuel filter
Worn out bearings and other parts in blower motor assembly. From what I understand, this causes the motor to drag, not get a high enough rpm to allow high enough fuel pressure.
What I guess is lost prime from not being run in a long time.
Bad ignitor coil or ignitor probe ends needing to be adjusted.

Thanks Andre, I’m hoping it was the fact that it hadn’t been cycled in a while. I have started ,stopped and restarted a few times. Gonna let it sit for a few days and try it again
