I-70 from Denver to I-15 in Utah is about 500 miles. At this junction, it’s about 275 miles to Las Vegas
of course west of Denver are the Rockies. Two high spots, the Eisenhouer Tunnels, the Vail Pass
from Vail mostly follows the Eagle a River then, the Colorado. Geographically its downhill from West Vail to Grand Junction. East of Glenwwod Springs, is slower section in Glenwood Canyon where the speed limit is 50
Alot of it is elevated, and curvy, but not mountainous curvy. There are a few tunnels too
Once out of the canyon at Glenwood Springs, you’re in a river valley all the way to a Grand Junction
West of Green River Utah, you will ascennd up onto the San Rafael Swell Recreational area. You will see much elevation gain in a short distance from Green River, since most of this region is at 8000+, For 100 miles there are no services, other than overlooks
Once acrossed, you’ll descend to Salina Utah. Now there is about 59 miles crossing a green valley where west of Salina is Richfield Urah. After Richfield, you’ll have one more pull over a pass then descend to I -15
I-15 is good and again you’ll be geographically going downhill to St George, Ut, be prepared because speed limit is 80. So cars are flying by you
Leaving St George you have 30 miles before entering Nevada, 11 of it is in the Virgin River Canyon. Speed is 55, lots of bridges as you wind thru the canyon, you keep crossing the river. This is a miollion dollar a mile road in the canyon.
Leaving Virgin River canyon, in Nevada now, it’s 1 1/2 hours to Las Vegas. Wide open spaces and usually light traffic. -
Chris2004…I think you have the full meal deal on that question.

Thank you guys,
We are considering that route or getting out west on 40 through Alberquerque .
We originally were planning 40 but then I saw something about people shooting at toads or trailers and thought about maybe taking a different route.
Thanks again,
Chris

Albuquerque is like most larger towns. There are places you do not want to go. In Albuquerque it is South 2nd Street and South on Broadway, especially at 2 AM.
I lived there for years and never had a a problem, but then I was home in bed at those hours. Yes, there are a lot of shootings, but they occur where I mentioned and usually after midnight.
I did not hear of any shooting at motor homes, but it might have happened. Remember that the news media will never tell about the boy scout helping the little old lady across the street because that type news does not sell news papers. The old saying in news…If it bleeds, it leads.
Visit Albuquerque, you will enjoy the balloons and the South West ambiance.

Thank you for the insight . We were hoping it was ok to pass through there , there aren’t a lot of options down there.
Thanks again

Dan,
That sounds good we are looking forward to seeing that part of the country. Just didn’t want to get into a gunfight on the way. 😀
Thank you,

I tried to put a smiley face. I guess I’ll stick to a colon and parenthesis 🙂
