hydraulic clutch problems
Some have been reading on othe boards about my recent set back.. If I didn’t enjoy problems a lot this would be hobby busting. I think outside box ;don’t do as I do unless your ready for a adventure!.. I had my clutch brake set up and working 2 months ago and then it quit!–I took all the standard steps . Bleeding the system ,pressure checks, linkage etc. Then In a last ditch flustrated attempt am throwing new master and slave cyl at it. So far that hasn’t been sucessful.. BUT am now going back to old fashion logic and methods to bleed system. Will get to this in next few days. The guys that went to the 10spd auto shift love it with Bruce having his for over 10 yrs. Rusty is building a very off the chart custom Eagle with same set up. Does anyone know where there is a stock prevost master cyl and clutch cyl set up???… A rare bird indeed but just thought I would ask. Mine is engineered and shop built and worked great. The unknown reason for change is not evident. Maybe Santa’s Elves will fix it! Bob PS you can operate clutch arm at trans by hand.

After much research it has just confirmed my original set up is correct. So I sent Air assist cyl out and got it back yesterday. They had to replace piston in it. This is at a trusted shop we have used for 40yrs on equipment components. Today may be the day for answers or more questions… Had my E-15 refreshened at same time as I didn’t know how old it was. No sign of moisture in air system/had been in valve. Bob

Maybe it was the X-mas gift from Santa! Or maybe the rebuilt air assist cyl?

Bob, Can you send a photo of the air asist cyl. I need the same done but haven’t got a clue where to locate the air asist. All I see is a slave cylinder @ the bell housing. I have already bleed it. Nothing changed! Still a weird clutch. Bus runs fine but occassionally I have trouble getting it nto gear. Thanks!

yours should have a combo slave air assist set up. I will check book later on your set up or you can go to prevostcar.com There is a complete section under tech manuals on clutches. Site hint stay left side then work your way down to page with tech manuals at top. Then you will see colum with year etc. don’t worry to much about it just put in style of coach. then go to maintance manual then check clutch. search.. when the option comes up to right click once and it will download to your computer. Pre 2000yr serial ## don’t get recognized sometimes as this is when they started the service. that is why the previous short cut idea.. Will be around board but physically down for next couple months. Getting another level of fusion in my back.
That slave /air assist cyl is $485 from prevost. I would get it rebuilt local. 45lb air suppose to be going to it. Bob

Bob, How’s your back doing? I hope you are feeling better! I checked the
prevostcar records for my ser# and it says my coach does not have air assist on
the clutch. Then I checked my old cat base CD and it says it did not come from
the factory with air assist. It just shows the breakdown of the hydraulic system,
trans, clutch, pressure plate and flywheel.
The problem I am having seems as though it would have to have air assist. I
have to apply a lot of leg pressure to hold the pedal down. When I hold the
pedal down it makes a strange noise and the pedal vibrates. The pedal releases
the clutch right at the top of full release of the pedal. I cannot down
shift at low speed without grinding the gears. Any other thoughts? Thanks!MT

ck on cross shaft. If they are dry it will make the throwout bearing hard to move. If it has clutch brake make sure it is making contact. It is a greased situation there also. About all I got from a backyard quaterback view. bob
