Hwy 12 Torrey to Bryce Canyon
hello!
hubby and I are going to Utah this May and I would love to drive Hwy12 with the bus. Has anyone done this trip and is it recommended? Any other suggestions for Utah? Hitting up Moab, Capitol Reef, Bryce, Zion in that order. Yes I know that there was a Hwy closure on 9 that will make us detour to hwy20. That’s all good! Any suggestions would be amazing. I have campsites in Bryce and Zion and I think I’ll grab one for Moab as well.

I’ve driven from Bryce to Boulder on 12 in the car, not in the bus. Bus will not be a problem. Have not been all the way to Tory.

The Hogback is a great drive. Good two lane road with some pullouts but the pullouts can fill up with tourists pretty quick during the high season (being next door to Colorado that may be all the time now ). Good idea to occasionally pull over and let the impatient four-wheelers pass. The only bad part about the drive is you want to look out the window the whole time. There are several youtube videos about Highway 12 including a couple that make the whole trip.

We’ve stayed at Portal in Moab in the ‘new’ section several times. But they are usually booked well ahead.
