HWH Slide – Hydraulic pump motor failure
Well gang I truly need your advice now.
Our 2000 Featherlite Vantare single salon slide has failed,
will not activate and advance in or out. After troubleshooting we discovered that the solenoid that
activates the hydraulic motor engages when there is a call for action. There
are 24 volts at the input side of the solenoid and when it is engaged it
delivers 24 volts to the motor. The motor does nothing, no hum or any other
sounds and does not start. From this I have concluded the motor has failed,
brushes or some other issue. So time to remove the pump motor and repair or
replace it.Has anyone ever actually removed a motor like this one? Must
the fluid be drained, hoses removed and the entire unit including the reservoir
be removed from the coach to remove the motor? Will fluid escape when the motor is removed from the housing
assuming there is a method to get it out without removing the entire system? After considerable time on the web it appears the assembly
is the HWH designated Monarch AP14012 – 24 volt – obsolete (http://www.hwhcorp.com/mr303354.pdf)link to the assembly drawing. The assembly is in the roof of the second bay drivers side
and inside an aluminum box. The box has a shoulder in the bottom where the assembly
is bolted and additionally glued in place. There is a ring where the 3” round motor
inserts into a square block. This block is the mounting block that is bolted to
the shoulder inside aluminum box. On the opposite side of the block the housing
is again round and there are at least four Philips head screws around the circumference.
There are no visible bolts or nuts on the outside of the assembly on the motor
side of the block that would secure the motor. There is a ring on the at the mounting
side at the motor that has treaded holes but nothing visible in them. Can
anyone provide some guidance on removing this motor, Please? My apology for the verbose post but need some advice and
thought more detail is better than none. Please any advice is helpful.
Thank you
Ray
