Hunting for air leak?

Maybe the temp sensor for the hot water is bad and thinks it’s at temperature when it’s not.

The aqua hot was just serviced in Nashville when we picked it up and they put in a new electric temp sensor. I’ll take off the panel and take a peek today. It was obvious the old one had “burnt” up. I used the only approved aqua hot service in Nashville (Mr. RV) and they where great! Checked out the burn chamber and all parts said it looked great and only had 600 hours on the unit. Brandon had the service done in Texas before he delivered the coach.

Check the electrical connection coming in to the unit.

One of my machanics asked if anyone has tried a smocker to detect air and vacumn leaks. He said he had used a “smoker” (as the type stage productions use) to infuse smoke into the system. According to him the leaks become very clear when smoke escapes. Just a thought.

I am not aware of anyone that has used “smoke” to find leaks in a pneumatic system. Is it still smoke when it is in a system under pressure and what is the content of the smoke? Is it an oil mist, a dry powder mist? I cannot think of anything I want to introduce into my air system other than dry air.
Having said that I know of one individual that was chasing a leak and he was unsuccessful at finding it. Out of frustration he added freon (I don’t know what type) to the system and then chased the leak with a leak detector. It worked and he resolved the problem. A word of caution….we do not know what all the internal components are in our air systems, nor do we know if they are affected by freon so while the concept seems to be an excellent approach the freon could create other problems.

I would think there are too many valves-tanks 100’s fet of lines to go thru to do much good unless you have a leak close to point of injection. Some of these passages in nordren etc are very small. Most leaks would be measured in less than 5 lbs per hr and I think in a hr the smoke would settle out due to gravity. Try it and let us know! You might have the next great solution!!! Bob
