  • Hummer H2 Towing

Posted by Ronald on October 7, 2025 at 9:47 am

Should I question whether an 8V92 is capable enough to tow a Hummer H2? If no, what is the best/recommended method for towing the H2?

Hey Ronald…..it shouldn’t be an issue as far as if the engine being strong enough.. The Hummer should be pretty close to the weight of a full size pickup or SUV.

Hello, Jerry. Thanks for the response. Do you have a recommendation on a towing set up?

What does the vehicle weigh as you will be towing it?

      Gross weight is 6,500 lbs.

That weight is very close to my 2021 Ford Ranger 4×4 which I tow and you will know you have something behind you. I use the blue ox Avail which is rated at 10,000 lbs. When climbing steep grades in the heat either disconnect or watch your turbo boost gauge.

Hey Ronald sorry for the delay on the reply…..I use the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain tow bar…its rated at 8000lbs. which would work for your Hummer’s weight capacity, but as Mike mentioned you would want a setup that would match your vehicle weight.

Thanks for the response and the update. I took a look at the tire information. On it the GVWR is shown to be 8,600 LB.
