Houston bypass rt99 from I10 East to Spring
Good evening,
Has anyone taken the 99 toll rd from I10 up to Spring Tx?

Find road, be sure the toll does not surprise you especially if you do not have a toll tag. More than two axles, price goes up fast and even more with pay by mail fees.

Sometimes it takes awhile to get into Houston and head north.

When heading north, the 99 Toll Road from I-10 east near Baytown is a wonderful route to avoid Houston chaos!

Going I-10 THROUGH Houston you just stay on I-10. If you need to get to 45N you want to take the 99 bypass despite the bang to your wallet! 45S you take the 610S to avoid downtown.
There are 3 beltways around Houston. 610 (inner loop), 8 (middle loop) and 99 (outer loop). The 99 is 70 MPH (for now) and lightly populated (for now) but growing fast. Some of the nicest road you have ever driven on.

The third outer loop, Grand Parkway, Hwy 99 toll road east of Houston is exit 799 on I-10.
Miles and miles and dollars and dollars later you will arrive back at I-10 at exit 745

Yikes! Don’t do that! I-10 to I-10 you just stay on I-10. Rudy knows that as well, it’s just an example.

I agree Bill. I just go straight through. I do strive to avoid morning and evening traffic times.
But, sitting at cruise speed from end to end, just riding and guiding, no back ups to slow one down is appealing.

The Grand Parkway (Hwy 99) is a great road. However, if you travel it in a bus with tow vehicle you better also be carrying an ATM with you. The toll on Hwy 99 with five axles for that trip is $350 from I-10 to Spring (I-45) assuming you have a TX Tag or EZ Tag. The trip on Hwy 99 is 40 miles
Another alternative is the Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8). The toll on the Sam Houston with five axles is $140 if you have a toll tag. The Beltway can have some traffic during rush hour so you don’t always avoid it but it is much better than hitting I-610 and I-45. The trip on the Beltway is 29 miles. If you take I-610 and I-45 the trip is 36 miles but no tolls. The Beltway is a nicer drive than 610 and 45 and will have less traffic.
