  • House Water Pump Recpt Dead

Posted by Kelly on August 8, 2013 at 6:16 am

Working through a few issues on my coach and found that the house water pump receptacle, mounted in a hatch near the floor in the bedroom, is dead. Checked power at the panel over the frig and it is leaving the panel. Have not yet removed the cover and looked to see if anything is wrong in the recpt itself, just curious if anyone is aware of any “relays” or otherwise between the breaker and recept?

Capt……..If you include the name of the converter in your signature line others with the same conversion could likely offer specific information relating to the problem.

In this instance your receptacle could be 12, 24 or 120 volts and the answer could range from guesses to an accurate assessment.

I have two Xantrax inverters…all my loads in the house are 110 volts…water pump included..I sure could use a good “coach electric 101 class” so I knew exactly how all of this stuff ties together…from what I assume I simply run the loads off of the inverter when not plugged up or on gen set power…I do have shop manuals…maybe I’ll dig around and see if i can find a wiring diagram..

If it’s 120 Kelly, maybe you have a ground fault tripped somewhere.

    Kelly,

If in fact the pump is 120 Tom’s suggestion is a good starting point. You should have a dedicated circuit for the pump.

I am assuming you have verified power is getting to the 120 V panel, that power is getting past the breaker to the receptacle and you have determined the receptacle is without power. Being a cynic, just to rule out the pump run an extension cord to verify the pump works.

Some pumps have external pressure switches. I assume you verified that is OK and you have power to that. If the pressure switch is internal such as on Headhunter pumps plugging the pump into an extension cord verifies the pump and its switch is OK.

Yes..checked power at breaker…and plugged cord up to get water pump running..( that was the initial problem I was looking in to in the first place…trying to learn my house water system :)..then discovered no power at recept. I will remove the cover and see if anything is wrong inside the handybox the plug is in…just wondering if there was anything between the panel anbd the plug someone might know about…thanks Jon

I still didn’t see what brand of conversion the coach is. He is almost discribing one of the last 4 Parliament 40′ XL double slide coaches we converted. If it IS a Parliament, behind the breaker panel in the galley or bedroom, there is a 120v relay panel the houses the control relay for the 120v pump.

    Sincerely,
