You can get the recepticle and box at the Depot. Just be sure the wire run is the heavy gauge 4 wire, the electrican will know. Yippee, power at home…

Spank Tom. Jamestown Advanced will sell you a 50-30-20 box, post mounted and ship direct to you.

In the interest of full disclosure I used to own the company and my daughter does now.

But to get to your situation it is very simple. In your house or garage circuit breaker box add a 50 amp double pole circuit breaker to supply power to the power outlet box. You will need to run 4 #6 wires from your circuit breaker box to the power outlet for the bus. Two black wires will be the “hot” wires and they will come from the two terminals of the 50 amp circuit breaker. A white neutral wire will run from the neutral bus bar in the circuit breaker box and it will connect to the corresponding bar in the power outlet box. The last wire will run from the ground bar to the power outlet box ground bar.

Your local electriciian or code official will help define how you need to run the wires to meet code. You will also have to have then determine if the codes require a “bonded Neutral” for which their is provision in the power outlet box.

I suggested a 50-30-20 box because it give you the 50 amp for the coach, but also leave available 2 more outlets that arer always handy when you work around the bus or want to park another coach alongside of yours.

This is one for the pro: With the problems with neutral ground bonding and earth ground. That can be mistaken in this case ;one mislocated wire can cause problems. Installler that is: The supplies are the same. Most people just think a ground is a ground wire and they can be connected. Many a electrical Ghost has been traced to a incorrectly wired/grounded electrical box. About any one can do it once you understand the basic process. But for one time it’s not worth the chance. Good tight connections and neat looking work are a sign to the customer: without knowledge that he has a decent job. If it looks sloppy it probably is Not correct. If you are a expert disreguard this. If you are new to this be cautious and aware. A good Electricial should be able to show you with his hand held testing equipment that the grounds are not connected. Bob

Thanks guys. Part number 25-123 seems right, unless they think I should surface mount it. I guess I will have to have the electrician come out first. I’ll need a new panel too. Mine are full and a kitchen upgrade is pending.

Following up on Jon’s reference to Jamestown Advanced, I went to their website and configured a 50-30-20 pedestal and requested an online quote using the form provided. Wow! I was so impressed by the customer service. I received an e-mail with a full quote and a very nice and personalized e-mail. In addition, the next day I received a voice mail message from the customer service manager advising that the sales rep who sent me the quote would be out of the office for the day and that the manager could help me if I needed immediate service. I received another follow up phone call from the sales manager to make sure I received the voice mail – this did not come across as pushy or as needing to make a sale, it came across as very genuine. Today I called the sales rep and he was very helpful and made completing the order for the pedestal very easy. I cannot wait for it to arrive!

Its the same as a range plug. Size the wires for 50 amps at whatever length you need and install a range plug. Ground and neutral shouldn’t be bonded in the pedestal unless you have a separate service (breaker box) to the pedestal which is not necessary unless you like spending money. Put a range plug in an external box with a cover on it and get on with life.

My Jamestown Advanced power pedestal came in last week. I opened it up and played around with it today. It will be a little while before I actually install it as I have some major new wiring to run through the house. I am very pleased with the power pedestal – top quality parts and workmanship!
