So what temps are you maintaining now ?

HI. can you recomend the correct part # for the soft start. my front c/a has a new compressor and related parts from fred last year. pulls higher amps than my other two oldies. and still shuts down in high road heat at signal light. or in average rv park afternoon voltages. have put a fan on condenser it helps. working on getting the right mister. not there yet any info would be great. thanks everybody for the postings.

With careful power management, I’ve always been able to run 4 ca at campground 50a. I can hold 80 inside my coach in the sun until ambient hits about 100. I believe that’s about normal for ca’s.

On an XL the enemy is the windows. Especially if in the windshield you have the BLACK privacy curtains down. That will throw enough heat into the front of the coach to offset the most efficient fron CA.
To help keep the shades down on the side windows. The single pane side windows are hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

I have the Progressive EMS Surge that I keep as a backup now. I use a Hughes Watchdog Surge that has a iphone APP that you can use to monitor amp draws on each leg as well as total Kw used while sitting in the comfort of the coach. Which has a Low voltage cutoff that The Progressive does not have. Low voltage is bad news too.

High/Low Voltage Protection:
Whenever A/C power falls below 104 volts, or rises above 132 volts, the EMS automatically shuts down power to the RV. The EMS will monitor the power and once the AC power rises above 104 volts, or below the 132 volt level, the time delay indicator flashes for the present time and then automatically restores power to the RV.I don’t know if 104 volts is too low or not. Maybe the really smart guys will opine. We’ve had it for five years and have used it in probably 75 to 100 campgrounds, parks, and resorts. Two or three times it shut down due to low voltage.

Thats great that it has low voltage protection. I have 2 progressive units. The first new one I purchased from someone online at a great price lasted about a year. And without a receipt from a progressive dealer they would not do anything as far as warranty. So I purchased a second one from Amazon and used it just a few months before I purchased the first gen Hughes. About a year later I bought the newest Hughes Watchdog. They have a field replaceable surge module that costs 30-40 bucks maybe. So if and when it takes a hit I can fix it myself and not have to deal with shipping one back for repair. I like the phone monitoring App. You can stand at your breaker panel and turn on various appliances or whatever and watch the amp draw in real time. It does the same thing you mentioned by cutting off at low or high voltage and monitors and resets whenever the voltage is within safe limits. Wonderful technology isn’t it.

Rocky: That’s pretty slick. Any thoughts on how low of voltage is “too low”?
I bought our Progressive directly from Progressive after talking to the founder and original owner of the product and the company. He has since sold it.

No I really do not remember the low/high thresholds on the AC power. But Jon’s description of how low voltage Stuck with me that I read years ago where he points out how much harder it is on your appliances and PC’s and electronics in general. hence the new Magnum True sine wave inverters also.

Yes it is the Bluetooth and the newer model works so good that I miss it when I am running on inverters. Hughes has raised the bar again with a unit to use along with the watchdog called the RV Wisper that will allow you to monitor power and tempature from anywhere in the world as long as you have service. Would be good for folks with pets on board or someone that has to leave their coach for an extended amount of time.

Rocky , Which of there products would you buy now if you did not already own one ? Also the power on our coach runs through the Inverters , is this a issue with this product . Thank You in Advance .
