  • Hot Box

I am noticing that my ac units and appliances work better on shore power and my voltage gradually drops as amp usage and heat set in. I have run a few test and if I keep the gen box open with bay door open the voltage will stay relatively where it needs to be but if I run the unit closed and run 2 ac units (basement and one cruisair) it drops to about 111v I was thinking of adding an additional fan to the box and maybe drill a few big holes on the floor of the box so the heat can escape. I think my gen. Box had a poor design has a small fan motor that draws air in but the problem is where it draws air from is where the basement ac is and gen radiator as well so it’s already hot air. What do you guys think? Also what can cause the buses electrics poor performance when on gen power aside from the low voltage?

Had the same issue a while back and called Power Tech. Turned out it was the voltage regulator going bad. Replaced it and all is well.
