Hose reel shaft leak
My incoming water hose reel shaft seems to have started leaking. Before going to all the trouble of removing it I would like to know if that seal can be replaced or if I need to replace the whole reel. I was able to bypass the reel and hose with a couple of simple plumbing parts so no time urgency. Mine is a manual spring loaded reel. Any recommendations on a replacement unit if replacement is easier/more cost effective than installing a new seal?

Just FYI, I just changed mine on my ’98 CC and it costs about $1000. The new setup did not have the same bolt holes so a bit was modification to the new mounting plate was also required. Access on mine was a real PITA (as is everything in that bay!).

Thanks for the info. I have a good work around that only cost a few dollars and a new hose. I am using a very flexible 15′ 18mm stainless steel corrugated hose attached to the inlet plumbing line. I removed the screws from the floor fitting. With it lifted out of the way the female end of the hose can pass through the floor and can be attached to a nearby hose bib. If the hose bib is further away an extension will reach. When the hose is pulled back into the bay the floor fitting fits back into the hole closing it so road dirt stays out. The hose is so flexible it coils easily to store in the bay non its own. Not elegant, but it works for me for now. It looks like I would need two more elbows in one arm to get that hose real out and a new one in. I will keep looking for a new swivel if I can get the old one out while the reel stays in place.
