I was thinking of this the other day and thought I could use 10X10 cedar post bolted together.
I have these as columns on my porch at my home.
Bolt two of these together and you have 20″ ramps and I think they might even be lighter.
They also come in 8X8 and various other sizes.
What do you all think of that.

Buddy …. using the cedar posts from your front porch for your bus ramps would make them easy to find and you’d have a built in storage spot for them when they aren’t under the bus. Good idea!

Dick, that is an excellant suggestion.
I do have six on the front of each porch so I have plenty.
Just for that brilliant thought, I will pay your dues next year.

I would question whether cedar is the correct species of wood for making safe ramps. Better to use a dense hard/ heavy species like white oak.

I have used 4 X 4 pressure treated blocks to make cribbing to get under the chassis support points in the past. The only problem with using soft wood such as the pine in the 4 X 4 is where the weight was concentrated the wood was crushed a little.
I think to make ramps where they support the tires there would be no issues at all.
