Highway 20 in Oregon
Planning a trip to Marathon in Coburg next week and wonder if anyone has traveled west from I-84 near Boise to Eugene. I am not sure if it would be better to continue north on 84 to Portland then south to Coburg?

I was on the road the other day if you like two lane then go but I would go 84 to Portland take the 205 around the city and down the 5 if it was me

nice campground on east side if town of Burns. We travelled two round trips in August yo and Fromm denver. Only real grind is posted 55 mph. We bumped it up to 62-65. First round trip was sprinter van towing 26 ft airstream to look at bus. Second round trip to bring bus home

We came that way back in June. Going 20 is the scenic route with some steep hills. You will have no problems negotiating the road in your coach, but it is slow going at times. Continuing I-84 to I-5 is probably 100 miles longer, but you’ll get there faster. You will also have a chance to stop by Multnoma Falls, which is beautiful.

don’t forget the fish hatchery at Booneville Dam. The have sturgeon to see and raise salmon.

For a slow-paced vacation trip hwy 20 through Oregon is wonderful except during winter months. But if you need to get to Eugene quickly, I’d take I84 to I5 and use the short-cut hwy 205 around Portland to avoid downtown traffic.
