Hello Brett,

Not too many years ago I worked for a year with one of our code share partners introducing the MD-11 to Malaysia, I recall flying twice a week from KL to Perth, the weather very much like San Francisco…fog! Beautiful, albeit remote place….is Skylab or what’s left of it still in that jewelry store in Perth?

Nope the old bits and pieces of Skylab are a long time gone now, Pilot eh MD -11 is McDonnnel Douglas isn’t it.

Our Summer here now so its bush fires all around the country – thankfully none close by.

I know some members would like to contact you via email. I can vouch for them but Tom and I are reluctant to share membership information on a public forum so I can either give out your email to those who request it with you permission or I can email you with their email address. I am posting this because this is not a unique situation so if members cannot email someone (hover over their user name and if it turns yellow their email address is available to you) let Tom or I know and we will act as intermediaries to put folks together.

We had a bad experience on another supposedly private site that charged a lot of money for membership which we members thought would keep our information private. Unfortunately the site owner viewed it as a business and he sold all the membership’s personal information to RV related marketers. As a result our member information is not shared or accessible to anyone.

I would encourage folks to go back into their profile and make their e-mail addresses active. I get mail all the time from folks looking for answers that they did not want to put on the forum.

In this day and age, I don’t think your e-mail address being available will be of any concern here.

My experience with West Austrailia is interesting indeed! I remember renting a car in Perth and heading towards Feeemantle (America’s Cup way back when), missed Fremantle, next thing I knew I went through a time warp. Suffice to say it get’s rural fast.

Brett you need to explain Roo Bars, most here in the US have never heard of those things. Also what kind of bus do you have…Bedford? I remember seeing Peterworth’s and Kenbilts there but, surprise surprise, they were all equipped with right hand drive. A big “glob” of Skylab was located in an Opal Sellers back room in mid town Perth; heck, it looked like a buoy to me, but the owner claimed it was the real deal. Never forget seeing a million and one sheep being loaded on a freighter (boat), bound for Saudi Arabia. Your lucky, a beautiful and peaceful place to be! Still do not understand why your grapes are pruned so close to the ground, but that’s another story. BTW some very fine wines come from West Australia…you all should try them…… I still think it best to stay out of the water, all manner of evil things lurk in the Indian Ocean…………….

I was tasked with checking out the Malaysian Pilots on the new airplane, because I was the resident “supervisor”, I always tried to fly Australia however I did get stuck a time or two with Madras (Chennai), Tokyo or the worst, Karachi. Perth is still my favorite although I did like Melborne and Sydney as well! And yes, you are correct, McDonnel Douglas, the first “electric jet”.

Gidday Brett & Liz…

Greetings from Texas… I am from Hobart, Tasmania….I lived all over the world, for years before moving to Texas in 1969.

You are right this is an awesome sight and like Jon & Tom said its pretty darned safe and you can learn a lot.

I haven’t seen ANY big (as in 40′ or over)RVs on the roads in Tassy other than commercial busses… I have often wondered about rv-ing in the land of OZ.

I bet you will be one of the biggest ones on the road?
